In response to concerns about an Egyptian strike after two criminal officials were killed last week, the Pentagon announced on Friday that forces would be sent to the Middle East to aid in Israel defense and U.S. causes.
According to Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh, Lloyd Austin, the Defense Secretary had mandated the deployment of more military personnel and resources to the U.S. Central Command and European Command regions. The Pentagon’s announcement comes as Persian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei threatened” to get punishment” after Ismail Haniyeh, a major Hamas criminal head, and Fuad Shukr, a top Hezbollah captain, were killed last year.
Singh announced,” Secretary Austin has ordered adjustments to U. S. military position designed to improve U. S. power protection, to raise support for the security of Israel, and to ensure the United States is prepared to respond to different contingencies”.
The Pentagon explained in a media release on Friday that the Middle East may be served by the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group in place of the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
” Also, Secretary Austin has ordered more nuclear weapon defense-capable ships and ships to the U. S. European Command and U. S. Central Command parts”, Singh added in the media release. The Department is also “putting in steps to make us more prepared to deploy additional land-based ballistic missile defense.”
Additionally, the Pentagon’s spokeswoman announced that a second fighter squadron would be stationed in the Middle East to strengthen U.S. forces there.
