In the summer of mid-July, a 26-year-old anthropology scholar from Dhaka University, Nahid Islam, emerged as a vital figure in the protests that led to the resignation of Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after a 15-year career. During these presentations against the state, Islam and his other students were recognized internationally for their authority, which eventually led to his rise in popularity.
The protests grew into a campaign to remove Hasina from electricity, starting as a protest against restrictions in federal jobs. Almost 300 people died in the murder, primarily college and university students, before Hasina left and sought shelter in India on Monday.
On Tuesday, Islam and other undergraduate officials were scheduled to meet with military commander General Waker-Uz-Zaman, who had announced Hasina’s withdrawal and the formation of an interim government.
Islam has argued with the students that any state that is led by or supported by the government should be rejected, and he has suggested that Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel laureate, be appointed as the chief adviser. In a Instagram post, he stated,” Any state other than the one we recommended would not be accepted”.
    Who is Nahid Islam?
Islam, who was married in Dhaka in 1998, has a younger brother named Nakib. His dad is a tutor, and his family is a woman. Nakib Islam, a landscape student, praised his brother’s endurance, saying,” He has incredible strength and generally said the state needed to change. He was picked up by the police, tortured until he was unconscious, and finally dumped on the road. Despite all this, he continues to fight. We can rely on him to continue. Proud of him”.
Islam has pledged to create a new political Bangladesh, ensuring the safety of its people, social righteousness, and a new political landscape. He has also pledged to stop the nation from resuming what he referred to as” Fascist rule” and has urged fellow students to safeguard the Hindu minority and their places of worship.
