Following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Hamas announced Yahya Sinwar as its fresh social president on Tuesday.
The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announced Yahya Sinwar’s appointment as head of the movement’s social ministry, according to the group’s statement, according to AFP.
Importantly, Israeli military officials accuse Sinwar of being one of the masterminds behind the October 7 assault on Israel, making him one of Israel’s most wanted insurgents.
Days after the announcement, Hamas’s military aircraft, the Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, reported firing a storm of missiles from the Gaza Strip toward Israel.
    Who is Yahya Sinwar
In the wake of the tumultuous time leading up to the establishment of the state of Israel, Sinwar’s activities led to his choice to add Hamas in the 1980s. He was born in Gaza in 1962.
    Increase within Hamas
Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the founder of Hamas, hired Sinwar as the head of the domestic security system known as the Al Majd. According to the New York Times, his position involved punishing those who allegedly broke Islamic law or conspired with Israel.
    Prison and training
Sinwar spent more than 20 years in an Jewish jail after being imprisoned in 1988 for the death of four Palestinians who had been accused of heresy or cooperation with Israel. During this time, he learned Hebrew, studied Jewish tradition, and translated broad Hebrew-language elements about Jewish surveillance methods into Arabic.
Sinwar’s treatment in jail, performed by Israeli physician Yuval Bitton, was praised for using his translated components to inform other prisoners about terrorism strategies. Sinwar, who described himself as a” expert in the Israeli people’s history”, focused his discussions on Hamas rather than specific things.
While imprisoned, Sinwar wrote a book titled” The Thorn and the Carnation”, a coming-of-age account reflecting his own experience. The novel details a Gaza boy’s life while the Jewish resistance demands sacrifice.
Prison is a furnace, Sinwar told an Italian blogger. He claimed that the phrase “prison builds you” gave him time to reflect on his views and the amount he may be willing to pay for them.
    After discharge
The innovative Hamas democratic leader, who was released in 2011 as part of a prisoner swap, claimed that capturing Israeli military was the best way to secure the release of Palestinians held by Israel. The best news in the world is that an Israeli soldier has been captured, according to Sinwar, who was there at the moment.
Post-release, Sinwar married and started a family, though he has remained private about his private life. He previously mentioned that his brother’s first terms included “drone”, highlighting his continued emphasis on issue.
In light of Sinwar’s extreme status, it seems unlikely that he would back a ceasefire with Israel that would end the hostilities in Gaza and bring an end to the captives nevertheless held by Hamas. Israel’s and US-based intelligence sources claim that Sinwar intends to improve the conflict to destroy its standing internationally and its relationship with the US.
