
Former Dallas Cowboy running back Duane Thomas passed away on Sunday, according to The Dallas Morning News, which cited group officers. He was 77.
Thomas was selected by the Cowboys in the 1970 NFL Draft along with West Texas State and Lincoln High School, and was born and raised in Dallas.

After his freshman year, where he led the team in rushing for a Super Bowl champion, Thomas asked for a restructured contract and when it was rejected, he was traded to New England. When Thomas refused to report to the Patriots, then-NFL director Pete Rozelle voided the deal, sending Thomas up to the Cowboys.
Thomas played with” America’s group” from 1970-1971, and he logged slides with Washington in 1973-74.
Thomas is remembered for helping the Cowboys win their first Super Bowl (VI ) over the Miami Dolphins, 24-3, in 39-degree weather.
In addition to completing 38 catches for 297 receiving miles and three more results while playing in the NFL, Thomas completed 453 passes for 2, 038 feet, and 21 touchdowns. He rushed for 1, 596 yards and 16 touchdowns in two decades with the Cowboys.
