Ibram Kendi’s ‘Antiracist Book Festival’ is racist, by his own standards

Research: Hispanic and Asian men are underrepresented at the text event

Professor Ibram Kendi’s” Antiracist Book Festival” has a prejudice problem – it failed to have much Hispanic and Asian men.

This violates his own “antiracist” principles which state that, except for light folks, there must be exactly equal distribution of possibilities among racial groups. The College Fix has previously found racist supply issues in Kendi’s writing.

The Boston University Professor Kendi, who popularized the word “antiracist,” analyzed data from the three Antiracist Book Festivals that The College Fix attended. When Kendi taught at American University, the first one took place in 2019.

There have been two more since then, in 2021 and 2022.

The Fix discovered that only two percent of the featured writers were Asian men, compared to roughly 3.5 % of the populace. However, while Hispanic men are 9.5 percent of the population, they represented merely three percent of the included artists.

By comparison, black girls were overrepresented, grabbing 40 percent of the casinos at the text event in the three centuries it occurred. But dark girls comprise just 6.5 percent of the population.

According to Kendi, “any estimate that creates or sustains racial disparity between cultural groups” is a racist plan.

” By scheme, I mean written and unwritten rules, regulations, methods, techniques, restrictions, and rules that govern people”, he wrote in” How to be an Antiracist”.

” If prejudice is creating capital, then it is antiracist”, he wrote in the same publication. ” If prejudice is creating disparity, then it is prejudiced”. ” There is no such thing as a nonracist or race-neutral policy”, Kendi wrote. Every scheme in every institution, every community, every state produces or sustains racial inequality or capital among cultural groups.

    He wrote more:

I do n’t believe an organization should hire an incompetent candidate solely out of race; this is how sometimes positive discrimination is defined. However, I do believe that institutions and cultures should aid actions that aim to end injustices.

This probably accounts for the overrepresentation of white men and women. White girls were just five percent of the included artists, despite being 36.5 percent of the population. Eighty percent of the included scholars were white men, which was slightly better.

In the past fortnight, numerous requests for comment have been ignored by Boston University and the Center for Antiracist Research.

In the past month, The Fix emailed the book festival’s spokeswoman Tami Nguyen and college spokesman Colin Riley three occasions asking if it is appropriate to label him racist or if Kendi has an obvious bias against Asian and Hispanic men. The Fix even inquired about possible actions that could be taken to ensure an equitable distribution at upcoming book festivals, such as an equity assessment.

Riley also failed to respond to a voice reminder from last week. The Fix even inquired about the center’s status and the availability of a text festival in 2024.

A Post assessment last month cleared the center of financial malfeasance, but it was also going to look into the society at Kendi’s think tank, following complaints from workers and professors.

Dark head suggests Kendi supports “acceptable prejudice.”

Kendi’s history of racial disparity and his development of “antiracist” thoughts drew condemnation from Donna Jackson, a president with the National Center for Public Policy Research.

” The idea that he gives is misleading”, Jackson said on a telephone call with The Fix, calling it “anti-white”.

” He’s ok with the significant effects to various minorities, the entire focus is really just about punishing light Americans”, Jackson said. According to her bio, she is” the Director of Membership Development for the Project 21 Black Leadership Network.”

There is “acceptable racism”, for Kendi, according to Jackson.

” Acceptable racism is,’ it’s okay if an African-American bumps an Asian-American for a position, it’s okay if an African-American bumps a Hispanic American”, she said.

” It’s okay if he disproportionately discriminates against Hispanic and Asian authors, that’s okay]to Kendi], it’s only unacceptable for him if he feels like there’s a disproportionate impact to African-Americans”.

She said the “present climate” favors black Americans and she has seen “many situations”, where Asians have had to overcome hurdles not in the way of black Americans.

Kendi does n’t even consider discrimination against Hispanics and Asians to be “racism”, Jackson suggested.

The center’s history is one of deviating from the racial equity principles it preaches; according to a prior Fix analysis, black and Hispanic employees incurred the majority of the center’s layoffs.

A June analysis found that there is only one Hispanic member on the current staff and advisory board, along with no Native Americans. Yet, Kendi is quick to accuse others of racism for questioning his leadership.

Additionally, he has pushed for the creation of a new federal agency to “preside for the prevention of racial injustice” in all local, state, and public policies.

The department would also “monitor those policies, conduct an investigation of private racist practices when there is racial inequality emerging, and follow public officials for racist ideas.”
