Slavery in America

Now people are taught, when it comes to enslavement, America was the worst.

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine actually said,” The United States did n’t &nbsp, inherit slavery from anybody, we&nbsp, created it”.

An MSNBC “expert” says” American slavery was worse because prisoners were treated as property”.

” That’s perfect nonsense”, replies political science professor Wilfred Reilly in my new film. ” Generational slavery, ( where ) if you’re the son of a slave, you’re a slave… that was extraordinarily common” .&nbsp,

Anti-American propaganda that currently dominates some American schoolbooks is refuted in Reilly’s fresh book,” Lies My Progressive Teacher Told Me.”

Partly thanks to the New York Times ‘ “1619 Project”, students are taught that” America’s slavery ( was ) unlike anything that had existed before” .&nbsp,

” There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging your traditional mistakes”, Reilly answers. ” I’m Black, Irish, a little African American… Those are three individuals who have experienced a great deal previously. There’s nothing wrong with recognizing that. However, it’s incredibly strange to concentrate solely on your society’s flaws. And to magnify those”!

Settlers today are taught to teach children that they brought people into the United States from Africa. Some are taught that most were shipped abroad.

” Between 10.7 million and 12 million slaves from Africa went to the New World– we got a small under 400, 000″, says Reilly. That’s less than 4 %. &nbsp,

” The intense focus on slavery in the United States, why did that happen”? asks Reilly. There is a reason why many Black people have survived here, one purpose. Much less severe was slavery than clearing the Portuguese jungle.

” But National Africans are at a disadvantage”, I push up. ” They have less money, financial and educational investment. Why bother mentioning how violent white folks were?

&nbsp,” The harm”, he replies, “is that pointing out how aggressive white folks were is not going to find Black Americans any more money. The modern Black community’s greatest problems do n’t typically stem from historical ethnic conflict 160 years ago.

According to Reilly, yesterday’s issues began with the introduction of government assistance.

” Crime in the Black community”, he says, “increased about 800 % between (around ) 1963 and 1993. Racism did n’t increase between 1960 and the modern era. You’re looking at the effects of the Great Society, the security applications”.

It’s better to tell the truth, says Reilly– virtually every nation had servitude.

” The Arabs were history’s leading slave investors. Muslims took so many blonde slaves out of the ( Slavic ) region, they gave the world the name ‘ Slav,’ ( for ) ‘ slave,’ to the global slave population”.

More than a million Europeans were oppressed and taken by Arabs.

&nbsp, Years afterwards, the first persons who really tried to abolish slavery were pale Westerners: The English and therefore Americans. They called enslavement evil.

&nbsp,” Yeah, the English Navy”, Reilly explains, “in a history almost no one now knows, sank 1, 600 slaves boats. They freed 150, 000 individuals that were enslaved at the time”.

By contrast, Saudi Arabia simply abolished slavery in 1962. And even now, the Global Slavery Index estimates that there are still 700, 000 captives in Saudi Arabia.

” Where there were no europeans”, Reilly information, “you’d have a lot of servitude for a long time”.

American servitude was terrible. But it was n’t unique. And we did n’t” make it”. If we were to learn about that, our society may be better off. &nbsp,

Schools dwelling on early America’s evils has n’t helped Americans get over them. &nbsp,

According to Gallup elections, race relations have gotten worse since schools began to emphasize prejudice.

” The idea of millennial slavery, the idea of slaves investing”, Reilly says, “none of that was special to America. The worst excesses of an existing structure can be criticized without using extremism. All you need is incrementalism and honesty”.

Next month, I’ll review on another story: the claim that, before Christopher Columbus, the natives were “kind managers of the atmosphere”.

Teenagers believe it. After all, it’s what Disney shows teach.

But that’s not true sometimes.
