My parents, Joseph T. Moran, Jr., was a World War II commander in the U. S. Army paratroops. That’s about all I know of his martial services. He always talked about the war, about fight, or about jumping out of an airplane. When he was around his ten children, he was a stoic person with a strong spirit and a lively gleam in his vision.

After the war, he left his job at Sears Roebuck and went on to run the largest retail office in the world. He was known for shooting flat.
, He was a strong SOB, that’s for certain. In the administrative offices, he was known for being hard but fair.  ,
He was a longtime Democrat and a FDR New Dealer. But that was about all he and Minnesota Governor, the fresh Democratic vice presidential candidate, shared. Tim Walz.
” This is America’s dad”, gushes MSNBC. Walsh electrifies audiences with a strong resume and a compelling introduction conversation.
Eeesh. Prevent humping his foot, now.
Walz served for 24 years in the National Guard before resigning only as his device was deployed to Iraq. He had vowed to support them, but he later made the decision to run for Congress.
By no means does this disparage Walz’s work or his own bravery. However, my father may have followed them and kept his word. Simply sayin’.
Walz’s occupation as a teacher was revered by many as a good one. Then he became a legislator. Prior to becoming government, he was in favor of cannon rights. Prior to his re-election as governor in 2022, he had a largely mild history for a Democrat. He therefore began to realize how far he could advance through the Democratic Party.  ,

Abortion rights, cis” shelter” for parents who want to reduce their children, and a host of very cheap social initiatives that took Minnesota’s$ 15 billion deficit when Republicans ran the government and spent it all.  ,
Connected: Why the Radicalism of Tim Walz and Kamala Harris Is But Hazardous
No. Tim Walz is not my father, your uncle, or people whose dad stood up to bullies, had his own mind, and refused to stretch to the strong progressive culture.
Much of the coastal elite news media finds the portrayal of Walz as a folksy Midwestern father rather titillating, especially when compared to Sen. J. D. Vance ( who Walz branded weird, leading to a strange news cycle in which other Democrats continued to jump aboard the bandwagon ). Whether swing-state voters will truly share that belief is still a question.
Walz’s actual record:  , For better or worse, Walz has —over the course of his almost 20 years in politics —embraced quite progressive policies, shifting further left over time. He’s a great admirer of hiking taxes, both revenue and gas. He oversaw state firms collaborating with various shoddy and phony businesses and giving tax money to bad-stewards of the funds. He continued to let this during the pandemic, when he wanted to dish out “hero paid” to so-called frontline workers, which led to some 333, 000 people claiming they were ready when they were in fact no (or, in some cases, illegal fraud, such as efforts by, uh, dying people to get checks ). The entire program was halted because the state agency in charge distributed checks anyway.

I do n’t trust “folksy” politicians ever since I saw Andy Griffith in” A Face in the Crowd”. And I detest politicians who practice the “father” of the nation. It’s sick. It’s too much like Der Fuhrer.
I think my dad would view Walz with contempt, just as I do.  ,
