Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), Vice President Kamala Harris‘s running mate, attended a protest with” Outlaw ICE” activists in 2018, a shift that goes deeper than even his wife’s criticism of the government organization.
According to the Minneapolis Daily, Walz, a senior and former senator, marched in downtown Minneapolis with thousands of protesters who opposed the Trump administration’s immigration laws. Democrats have portrayed Walz as a Midwesterner with moderate opinions.
Walz, who was running for governor at the time, stated in a separate release that he supported “majorly reforming” immigration and customs protection.
Other notable guests at the” Free our Potential” opposition included Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, presidential member and Rep. Erin Murphy (D-MN), and Rep. Peggy Flanagan (D-MN).
The opposition came days after the Trump administration canceled its “zero sensitivity” border wall, leading to the separation of parents and children while Border Patrol officers were being detained. About 5, 000 babies were separated as a result.
Matt Wolking, evil chairman for contacts at Axiom Strategies, one of the largest Democratic political consulting organizations, initially posted photos from the June 30, 2018, celebration on X on Friday evening.
In a text message to the Washington Examiner on Friday afternoon, Wolking wrote that illegals are entitled to receive taxpayer-funded health care and benefits because” she picked a dramatic running mate who matches her empty borders beliefs: sneaking across the border is not a crime, sanctuary cities and drivers licenses for fugitives are great, building a wall and securing the border is terrible, and laborers are not.
A comment request from the Harris campaign was not received.
Progressive Democrats, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY), called for the government to wipe out the agency, though no action was taken under then-President Donald Trump or President Joe Biden.
Harris did not explicitly call for the ICE to be shut down during the 2018 or 2020 election cycles, but she did say in 2018 that the government should consider” starting from scratch” with the organization.
ICE was created in the early 2000s through an act of Congress. Agents and officers within ICE are tasked with investigating specific federal crimes, detaining, and deporting illegal immigrants whom federal judges order to remove, and in accordance with congressional mandates.
Walz told a reporter during an interview in 2019 that he identified as a “progressive”, not a “centrist”.

Walz, a gubernatorial candidate for the 2018 election, said he supports making Minnesota a” sanctuary” state, a term used to describe local and state governments that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration officers.
As governor, Walz has signed several bills into law, including providing immigrants who illegally entered the country with driver’s licenses, free college tuition, and taxpayer-subsidized healthcare.
