After being detained from the borders during the Biden administration, federal agents at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement began to detain critical criminals who had committed violent crimes against Americans.
In the past, illegal immigrants who ICE has detained in the United States have been people wanted in their home countries in connection with serious crimes committed that or have been there for a number of years and have criminal information ranging from minor to moderate acts, such as a DUI and assault.
Since then, ICE has been more focused on detaining those who have a legal history and entered the country under Biden than those who have before he became president in 2021.

Elkin Arturo Yarce-Munera, a Colombian national, was deported from Brownville, Texas, a border town, in May 2022. He was detained in Boston the following January for assault and battery on a family member or household member.  ,
Yarce was found guilty in December 2023 by the East Boston District Court, but ICE did not intervene. Yarce was discovered to have fake Social Security and U.S. permanent resident documents after ICE made his arrest.
