
According to a report from the United States Geological Survey, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.2 struck off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia’s far-east area. Early on Sunday night, the disaster was discovered.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 90 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of nearly 50 kilometers ( 30 miles ) beneath the ocean’s surface.
Following the earthquake, the US National Tsunami Warning Center issued a Storm update.
