Corey Comperatore lost his life while guarding his household from gunfire at a rally held for former president Donald Trump in Butler Township. Comperatore placed himself between the guns and his wife and daughters as the Secret Service fought to protect Trump. He was struck in the head by one of the eight photos fired.
However, Donald Trump shared a video tape of of Corey’s wife and daughter showing up for the first time and said,” RIP Corey Comperatore”.
Corey Comperatore’s lady, Helen, spoke exclusively with Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 about her father, describing him as a hero. ” He certainly was a hero”, Helen said. He saved his family, his child, and he was the best man. He was just the best”.
After dating in their sophomore year of high class, Helen and Corey were married for 29 years. Helen recalled their first days together, saying,” It was Valentine’s Day. A few red roses were delivered to my home by Corey. Their love account continued with relationship and two daughters, Allyson and Kaylee.
The Comperatore home was present for the first time at the march to witness Trump in person. Corey instructed his family to get along and shield them when the shooting broke out. My father threw me over because I was the one. When he was shot and ended up falling onto me as he was putting me down, Allyson said. Kaylee, also grappling with the pain, said,” I started screaming, but in my mind, I kept saying,’ Wake up,’ like this is a dream”.
In a dramatic gift, Corey’s fire belt was displayed at the Republican National Convention. Heather shared that Corey had joked about being called up on stage, and that his show at the agreement was seen as a realization of that desire.
The Comperatore community has received an outpouring of support, including worship shawl, a cross, wind chimes, and many cards. Although a GoFundMe campaign has raised thousands for the family, Helen is aware that it cannot deliver Corey again. ” I talk to him anyhow, and the only thing that always comes out of my tongue is,’ I’m sad that this happened to you,'” she said.
Helen Comperatore has retained an attorney to find solutions and justice for the killing. ” I want justice for my husband, and I’m going to find it”, she asserted. Particularly, the household demands accountability from the march security. Kaylee expressed her anger, saying,” I actually think my husband’s heart is on their arms, and I hope they wake up every time thinking about what they took from our home”.
Two more people were even hurt in the firing. David Dutch, 57, from New Kensington, and James Copenhaver, 74, from Moon Township, are both recovering at house.
The Comperatore family intends to establish a basis in Corey’s name with the money raised. Trump has been asked to travel with him to Butler in October, but Heather Comperatore did check security plans before making a choice.
