In a tragic event in North Carolina, 36-year-old Mainank Patel, an Indian-origin person and the owner of Tobacco House comfort shop, was shot and killed during a robbery on Tuesday night. Officials have confirmed that a young man is being held in custody in connection with the murder.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, delegates were initially dispatched to the Tobacco House at 2580 Airport Road following a 911 hang-up visit. While en route, they received reports of a killing. Upon introduction, they discovered Patel suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte where he succumbed to his injury and was then taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Young arrested
Despite the fact that his time, the coroner’s office has not made his personality public, a young man has been identified as the suspect. He was arrested on Tuesday night. Although the cause for the shooting is still unknown, initial data suggests it may have been a heist. No further injuries were reported.
Community in mourning
Patel, affectionately known as” Mike”, is remembered fondly by the community. He leaves behind his seven-and-a-half-month female woman, Ami, and their 5-year-old girl. The profound effect that Patel had on those around him is reflected in the outpouring of grief from clients and citizens.
” It hit somebody because this was a home, this was a group home store”, said Ann Ellis, a client. Javier Lopez, who has maintained the company’s grounds for decades, expressed sorrow over Patel’s dying, noting,” There are just no words to describe how wonderful a man Mike was”.
Patricia Howard, another typical consumer, noted Patel’s benevolence and comfort. ” He was a very great man, great to his clients, loved his home and would have helped anyone”, she said.
The surveillance video from the business captured a suspect—a tall, slim white male—fleeing the picture in black pants, a dark hoodie, and a ski mask, apparently carrying a black gun. Patel, who was renowned for his kindness and devotion to his clients, is still in the area.
