
The Pakistani government announced on Saturday that it had developed a comprehensive mpox vaccine and that people should n’t be concerned about its spread. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, the heath coordinator for the prime minister, reported to the press that only one circumstance had been reported in the nation despite the use of surveillance and monitoring procedures at all airports and points of entry.
Ahmad also stated that laboratories were designated for diagnosis in all provinces and the federal capital, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan ( APP ) newswire. He stated that travelers from Africa, America, and the Gulf states would be on alert and cases were reported.
He claimed that the government was keeping tabs on the condition and that the Ministry of Health was regularly monitoring it.
Ahmad urged the general public to stay away from home if their family has a record of travel or mpox ailments. Additionally, he advised the general public to get in touch with a reputable physician and follow their instructions if they notice any signs of mpox.
He claimed that it could get 10 to 15 days for symptoms to manifest, and that spending too much time with the patient may spread the infection. ” It is better if the person is quarantined”, Ahmad said, adding that temperature drugs are used for mpox.
In a related development, Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, convened a meeting on the mpox and declared tight watch over the spread of the disease. Additionally, he requested that Border Health Services be kept in complete control of the situation and that effective monitoring actions be put in place at all airports, seaports, and borders.
He suggested that he would receive a regular presentation on the mpox situation and demanded that an effective awareness campaign be launched.
In addition, Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz traveled to Islamabad Airport to examine the screening procedure for incoming foreign passengers and advised that the screening procedure be made more quickly to ensure the proper identification of any possible mpox cases.
He claimed that the health department is stationed at the airports, where every foreign visitor was being carefully screened.
The World Health Organization ( WHO ) designated the recent outbreak of the disease as a public health emergency of concern on Wednesday following the discovery of the new variant of the virus. The disease, which was previously known as monkeypox, can be spread through close contact.
