
Former President Donald Trump addressed a campaign rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where he announced that there has “never been a more dangerous period since the Holocaust” to become Jewish in the US.
With the current rise in hate crimes and racist situations, Trump backed up his claim.
He made note of the fact that Vice President Kamala Harris chose Josh Shapiro over Pennsylvania Governor because of his Hebrew beliefs.
” They turned him down because he’s Jewish”, Trump told the group at Mohegan Sun Arena. ” They turned him down for various reasons, but the main reason is because he’s Jewish”. Trump continued,” Any Jewish person that votes for] Harris ] or a Democrat has to go out and have their head examined”.
There has never been a more dangerous period since the Holocaust, he said in his speech, citing what is happening with Israel and the Jewish people.
Josh Shapiro, the governor of Pennsylvania, refuted Trump’s claims, claiming that the choice of Tim Walz as Harris ‘ running mate indicated that “antisemitism had no effect” on the option.
Following the Hamas assault on Israel on October 7, which claimed the lives of roughly 1,200 Israelis and sparked a protracted conflict in Gaza, which is currently in its eighth month, there has been a noticeable rise in antisemitic hate crimes in the nation.
In New York City, the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force investigated 30 anti-Jewish crimes in July alone. Before that, 45 for occurrences were reported in June. According to Year-to-date information, 229 racist love acts had been reported to the NYPD as of August 4, compared to 126 by the same period last year.
