The political campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris has appointed infamous election busybody Marc Elias to meet their legal team to concentrate on potential recounts.
After previously serving as general counsel for Harris ‘ primary campaign during the 2020 election cycle, Elias is bringing along “lawyers from his growing firm” this time around, according to The New York Times ( NYT). Various members of Harris ‘ legal team contain Bob Bauer,” who served as private counsel to President Biden for years”, Dana Remus, who served as general counsel to Biden’s 2020 campaign, and Vanita Gupta, a past” best Biden Justice Department standard” who will serve as an “informal adviser”, The Times reported.
But if Elias ‘ past ( and present ) can prove anything, it is that Harris ‘ team is working hard to win this election in court if it ca n’t win at the ballot box.
Russia Collusion
Elias is probably best known for helping to create the Russia collusion scam, one of the first clear occasions of Democrat election meddling involving Donald Trump. Elias commissioned the dismissed Steele Dossier that was funded by Hillary Clinton’s 2016 plan. In 2016, Elias was a leading attorney for Clinton.
Elias hired Fusion GPS to uncover the identity of then-candidate Donald Trump, but the Democratic National Committee and Clinton’s strategy funded it. Former British detective Christopher Steele was a former employee of Fusion GPS, who afterward disseminated uncorroborated rumors that Trump was a Russian asset to the media and U.S. spy agencies. The dossier’s main cause was Igor Danchenko, who, as The Federalist’s Margot Cleveland explained in a collapse of the Russia-collusion fake, “fed Steele false information about the Trump campaign, which a Clinton boost had invented and then passed on to Danchenko”.
In what later became known as” Crossfire Hurricane,” the FBI illegally spied on the Trump campaign using this uncorroborated evidence. No proof that Trump conspired with Russian operatives was discovered in both Special Counsel Robert Mueller and John Durham’s subsequent investigations.
Sanctioned for Deception
After falsely refiling a motion that had previously been rejected “without disclosing the previous denial,” Elias was sentenced to prison in 2021. According to Reuters ‘ explanation, Elias was required to pay “double costs” and “attorneys ‘ fees and court costs” for the “duplicative” motion and any related response, as well as “double costs.”
Elias ‘ efforts to reinstate straight-ticket voting in Texas resulted in the sanctions. Voting on a straight-ticket basis is simple: just once, and it allows voters to cast their ballots for all the candidates their party prefers.
According to my colleague Jordan Boyd, Elias “demanded that the judges reconsider the “unprecedented” penalties and requested that the sanctions be removed from the appeals court.” The court refused in a unanimous decision.
Election Integrity
Elias ‘ attempts to stifle election regulations and create an electoral shuffle are what make him so risky for the future of this republic.
Every active voter on Nevada‘s voter rolls is automatically sent a ballot to them. But the state’s voter rolls allegedly include hundreds of” suspect addresses” like strip clubs, bars, parking lots, and commercial addresses, my colleague Matt Kittle explained, citing an investigative report from the Public Interest Legal Foundation. However, state law mandates that a voter register his home address, so PILF is urging “elections officials to carry out the law.” To do so, the foundation filed a petition in Nevada‘s second-most populous county, Washoe, to force elections officials to investigate the commercial addresses on voter rolls.

Elias ‘ team, however, is having none of that by interfering in the case and asserting, as Kittle put it, that “forcing Washoe election administrators to follow the law and clean up the county’s dirty voter rolls will “provoke” voting rights.
U.S. District Court Chief Judge James D. Peterson also recently criticized Elias for filing a “novel” absentee ballot complaint against Wisconsin that Peterson, an Obama appointee, dubbed “head-scratching.”
Elias and his team argued that Wisconsin’s requirement that a U.S. citizen sign an absentee voter’s ballot is a civil rights violation.
However, Peterson ruled that” the most obvious issue with plaintiffs ‘ interpretation is that it simply does not make any sense.” The judge went on to explain that the state statute is “intended to serve legitimate and important purposes, such as deterring voter fraud, undue influence, and ballot harvesting”.
