At the Democratic National Convention ( DNC), Michelle Obama sharply criticized former US President Donald Trump and reinforced her support for Kamala Harris in a powerful and aggressive speech on Tuesday.
Michelle directly attacked Trump by making his earlier contentious remarks about illegal immigrants taking” Black work” offensive. Who will inform him that the position he is currently seeking might be one of those” Black work”? Michelle said, referencing Trump’s notes. This statement highlighted the former mayor’s history of racist language and his assertions that President Barack Obama was unqualified for business.
” For decades, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people worry us”, Michelle continued. His “limited, narrow view of the world” caused him to feel threatened by the presence of two enthusiastic, highly educated, successful people who happen to be Black.
Obama’s criticism did n’t stop there. She even addressed Trump’s remarks about Kamala Harris and other Democrats hardly being “real Americans”, asserting,” No one has a monopoly on what it means to be an American, no one”.
The former First Lady’s talk was not entirely focused on attacking Trump, she even issued a call to action for all Americans, regardless of political affiliation. ” Look, I do n’t care how you identify politically, whether you’re Democrat, Republican, independent, or none of the above, this is our time to stand up for what we know in our hearts is right”, Michelle said. ” To stand up, not just for our fundamental rights, but for morality and humanity, for simple respect, dignity, and compassion for the values at the very basis of this democracy”.
Michelle praised Kamala Harris as one of the most eligible presidential candidates to ever become president, turning her attention to Kamala Harris. Kapala Harris is more than prepared for this circumstance. She is one of the most skilled people always to get the business of the presidency”, Michelle said, highlighting Harris’s accomplishments and her dignified picture, which she attributed to a reputation of sturdy women.
Michelle opened her talk with a message of hope, comparing a divided society to the one plagued by doubt, and gently criticizing Trump’s leadership. ” America, desire is making a comeback”, she declared, sparking a standing ovation from the crowd.
