US presidential elections: Democrats bid farewell to teary Biden as he passes baton to Kamala Harris

At the group convention in Chicago on Monday, US Democrats marked a historic moment for the nation’s democratic history by euphoric President Joe Biden as he bid his electorate to Kamala Harris.
The management is rarely present, and the first day of party conventions usually offer warm openings to the gala. However, the DNC’s opening ceremony on Monday provided a stirring spectacle as Kamala Harris, the second woman of color to be nominated for the president, was also present to take the post of election from Biden and additional party leaders, including Hillary Clinton.
” Joe, thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to our nation, and for all you will continue to do, we are forever grateful to you”, Harris said in brief remarks as party faithful erupted into chants of” thank you, Joe” and” we love you, Joe” a recurring chorus through the raucous evening.
” With enthusiasm, hope and faith, but guided by our love of country, knowing we all have so much more in common than what separates us, let us fight for the principles we hold dear, and let us always remember when we fight, we win”, she added.
After receiving his family First Lady Jill Biden and daughter Ashley at Chicago’s United Center, which is named after the flight, but likewise properly reflected the party’s unity following a tumultuous attrition of the election, Biden dabbed weeping from his sight. The President’s absence for a holiday in California allows the light to focus on Harris from hereon by having Biden ( and previous party candidate Hillary Clinton ) speak on time one and fade away.
Biden masked his feelings toward Harris by saying,” I love the job, but I love my country more,” if there was any. And all this chat about how unhappy I am with everyone who has said I should step down is untrue.
” For 50 centuries, like many of you, I gave my heart and soul to our country. And I have received a million blessings in return for the help of the American people. I may have been too young to be in the Senate– I had n’t turned 30 however– and too old to be as leader”, he said in the single poignant moment of his address.
In a direct attack on Donald Trump, Biden called him a “loser”, saying,” You ca n’t say you love the country only when you win”,– a reference to the Republican candidate’s oblique contention that he would accept the 2024 election verdict only if he won in an election he deems as fair and honest.
At the conclusion of the conversation, Harris herself rushed onto the stage with her husband Doug Emhoff and joined Biden and his family, mouthing the phrase” I love you, Joe” as they hugged one another.
A MAGA-dominated party was dissented by its lone living former president ( George Bush ), its former vice-president Mike Pence, and numerous other GOP stars at the DNC’s energetic and united stand.
Hillary Clinton’s fiery speech, in which she disparaged Trump, her 2016 foe, said he was” the first person to run for president with 34 felony convictions” and that” we have him on the run now” as the audience swelled with chants of” Lock him up!” Lock him up”!
After MAGA Republicans had sparked similar slogans against her in 2016, she delivered a special time of retaliation for Clinton. She also reawakened Democrats ‘ understanding that even though they were near, the glass ceiling was still in place, and that the fight against Trump was still in its early stages.
” I want my children and their children to know that Kamala was there every step of the way, that we were there.” This is our day, America. When do we raise our hands. She recalled the 2016 elections, when she was the first person to win the presidency of a main party but lost despite receiving nearly three million more votes than Trump.
The DNC’s lineup of speakers for opening night was a stark contrast to the light male-dominated RNC’s key presence of minorities on both the ground and the stage, which included several women and minorities. The industry rang out with the Beyonce music Freedom, which is one of the stars scheduled to perform at the agreement as it builds momentum over the next three days, with former US presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama on the list.
