By September 4th, Columbia must submit papers relating to racism.
On Wednesday, the House Education and the Workforce Committee subpoenaed Columbia University for records it wanted to use in an hatred research.
The agency’s demands include “messages, Board of Trustees days, notes, summaries, and recordings regarding racism or Israel, and other documents regarding the Israel-Hamas issue by students, faculty, and employees since Oct. 7”, the Washington Examiner reported.
According to the Washington Examiner, Columbia was informed by the committee on August 1 that it would be subject to subpoenas if it did n’t cooperate with the investigation. The institution is required to provide the required paperwork by Sept. 4 according to the lawsuit order.
” Columbia should be a partner in our efforts to ensure Jewish individuals have a safe learning environment on its campus, but rather, school officials have slow rolled the analysis, repeatedly failing to turn over necessary files”, Rep. Virginia Foxx, director of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, said in a statement, according to the Washington Examiner.
According to her,” the data we have obtained points to a persistent pattern of neglect for hatred and a refusal to stand up for the extreme students and faculty members who are to blame.”
She added that the committee’s goals are” to protect Jewish students and faculty, and if forced procedures are required are obtained the documents …so get it.”
Foxx issued a letter detailing the knowledge the council requested and the school’s absence of sensitivity. The text reads:
The Committee sent Columbia an updated set of objective calls on April 26 following the establishment of the so-called Gaza Solidarity Encampment, which, Columbia’s own entrance, created a hostile atmosphere in contravention of Title VI. The Committee identified three categories of materials as its major priorities: communications from specified custodians, Board of Trustees meeting minutes, notes, and summaries, and data on administrative cases relating to the campsite or from the time since the establishment of the encampment…Despite the Committee’s many efforts to identify its priorities, Columbia has failed to satisfy these requests.
The school’s handling of anti-Israel protests is the subject of an ongoing investigation, as has been previously reported by The College Fix. In addition to the arrests of hundreds of students, the school has also hosted some of the nation’s most obnoxious anti-Israel demonstrations. Additionally, four Columbia administrators were involved in a number of texts that made fun of Jewish leaders and students.
The university’s president, Minouche Shafik, resigned from her position this month following these events. Foxx stated” she is hopeful the school’s new leadership will be more responsive”, according to the Washington Examiner.
