
According to ABC News, a 33-year-old girl from Gilbert, Arizona, has been missing since Thursday due to a display storm in Grand Canyon National Park.
After being swept into Havasu Creek at around 1: 30 am native period, search and rescue efforts are currently underway to get her. The storm has left a number of hikers stranded in the area, according to the National Park Service ( NPS).
A rescue flight was dispatched to help those who were stranded both above and below Beaver Falls, according to a press release from the National Park Service ( NPS) on Friday. After being swept into the river about a mile above its intersection with the Colorado River, one man, named Nickerson, is still unaccounted for. The NPS noted that “people who were stranded below and above Beaver Falls, although Nickerson is still missing, the NPS said. She was uninsightful and was swept into the river about a half mile above the Colorado River convergence.
At the time of her departure, Nickerson was reported to be wearing a dark tank top, black pants, and orange walking shoes. Rescue teams continue to look for her as she goes missing.
The Havasu Creek lake and its surrounding areas were among the sections in Coconino County that the National Weather Service had issued a flash storm warning on on Thursday. The potential risks posed by sharp currents and rapid water levels in the affected areas were highlighted in this warning.
