Vladimir Zelenskyy referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as a” tired old man” who threatened to launch a nuclear strike during his 33rd Independence Day speech in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said in a movie on the Telegram,” A bored old man from Red Square who continually threatens everyone with the red switch will not determine any of his dark lines to us.”
Moreover, he announced a new Russian “drone weapon” called Palianytsia, which he claimed would take the war up to Russia.
” Our army will be aware of the tactics used by Ukraine to retaliate.” Capable, symmetrical, long-ranged”, he said.
The senator also confirmed that the new Russian weapon had safely struck a specific inside Russian country, but did not specify where it was located.
Zelenskyy added that this new tool has more power and speed than the domestic robots that are now being used by Kyiv, effectively targeting Russian military installations and oil refineries.
” I want to stress once more that our new tool choices, including Palianytsia, is our practical way to act while some of our partners are sadly delaying selections”, said Zelenskyy.
The phrase” Palianytsia”, which refers to a type of Ukrainian food, is considered hard for Russians to speak and has been used throughout the battle, maybe humorously, to distinguish between Ukrainians and Russians.
” It will be very hard for Russia, hard to actually speak what precisely has hit it”, said Zelenskyy.
Russia has consistently attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones since the war first started in February 2022, but Moscow has labeled Ukraine’s drone strikes as violence. Russian forces continue to advance in eastern Ukraine, now occupying 18 % of the state.
Zelenskyy has been pressing Ukraine’s allies to permit the use of American arms deeper within Russian country, like as targeting airbases used by Russian planes that fire rockets and fly weapons.
However, Zelenskyy promoted his best captain, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, to the level of General, praising his command during Ukraine’s recent cross-border intrusion into Russia’s Kursk area, which began on August 6.
Ukraine claims to have taken over 90 settlements in the Kursk area, marking Russia’s most major invasion since World War II, while Russia has criticized this invasion as an escalation and big incitement.
Zelenskyy stated in a combined press conference with the rulers of Poland and Lithuania that the new military exercise in the Kursk region of Russia was intended to stop Russian attempts to capture the capital of Sumy in northern Ukraine.
He mentioned that the procedure had other goals, including the creation of a “buffer zone” and the capture of prisoners of war, but he made no public announcements about any of them.
Also, Polish President Andrzej Duda confirmed that Warsaw provided Polish PT-91 Twardy vehicles to Ukraine over a year ago and are now conducting fight activities in the Kursk area.
” We are touched to see how the PT-91 Twardy tanks, given by Poland ( to Ukraine ) more than one year ago, are defending today Ukraine on the battlefields, fighting in the Kursk region”, he said.
