On Saturday, activists from Extinction Rebellion and Swedish activist Greta Thunberg attempted to blockade a gas and oil running plant in west Norway.
Eight canoes and three speedboats had entered a safety area outside the Karsto processing plant, according to Extinction Rebellion Norway in a post on social media, “prevent the normal functioning of tankers.”
Protesters, including Thunberg, even gathered on land to prevent the hospital’s gates.
Thunberg was quoted as saying in the write-up,” We cannot stand idly by as the fossil fuel industry destabilizes our life support systems and robs people of their lives.”
The Karsto flower is operated by Norway’s Equinor and is the largest of its kind in Europe, according to the business.
According to Equinor, around 30 oil and gas fields are connected to the flower. A spokesperson for the business confirms that the opposition had begun.
A group of protesters have gathered outside the hospital, but as of right now, the plant is operating normally, according to Ellen Maria Skjelbaek.
Police responded to the rally, according to Skjelbaek.
