Democrats in the U.S. House have begun an investigation into Governor. Tim Walz has a long history with China, and now that he’s Kamala Harris ‘ choice, his involvement in the region has sparked some controversy.
Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., who chairs the House Oversight Committee, called on FBI Director Christopher Wray to investigate Walz’s ties , in a letter, asking the company to supply” all paperwork and connections in the FBI’s hands” that may shed light on Chinese companies of individuals Walz may include “engaged or partnered” with.
Governor Walz is alleged to have longstanding connections to CCP-connected individuals and officials, which makes him prone to the Party’s plan to co-opt powerful individuals from elite social, cultural, and academic circles in order to benefit both the communist regime and the interests of Americans, according to Comer’s letter.
The Oversight Committee president argued that Walz’s broad ties to China “raises concerns about possible State effect in his decision-making as governor—and, should he be elected, as evil president”.
Democrats began doubling down on , anti-China messaging , during the pandemic and Walz’s relations to the region have led to new GOP problems.
Walz’s partnership with China began in 1989, when he , moved it to educate English , as one of the country’s earliest U. S. sanctioned teachers. He has since traveled to the nation more than 30 days.
As educators, he and his family Gwen Walz organized student journeys to China , in the first 1990s , and even spent their honeymoon it.
During his six term in Congress, Walz frequently spoke out against the country’s human rights violations, and he gained that knowledge as an tutor in China.
He also convened with the Tibetan spiritual leader in captivity, Dalai Lama, who China claims is a dissident, as well as the Congressional Executive Commission on China, a body that examines human rights issues in the nation.
The Hong Kong Human Rights Democracy , Act of 2017, which requires an annual statement on Hong Kong to be submitted to Congress to decide whether it has enough independence from China to support the United States ‘ decision to treat it differently, was cosponsored by Walz.
The FBI said it received the agency’s text but declined to comment when reached.
The Harris-Walz strategy defended the president’s history and relationship with China.
Republican are” tweening basic information and blatantly lying” to defy the Trump-Vanes plan, which includes praising tyrants and sending American jobs to China. In a speech, Walz’s spokesman Teddy Tschann said,” Vice President Harris and Governor Walz may assure we win the competition with China and will always have up for our beliefs and hobbies in the face of China’s risks.”
