US Secretary of state Antony Blinken said in a speech on Saturday that the ongoing humanitarian crises and human rights abuses in Burma exacerbate the issues faced by people of many of Burma’s ethnic and religious minority teams, and in particular Rohingya.
The United States, he said, is committed to providing life-saving aid to Rohingya areas and those impacted by the Burma, Bangladesh, and the region’s problems. He added that it is in solidarity with the victims of the murder.
In a separate article on X on Sunday, Blinken said,” Now marks the eighth anniversary of the Burma army’s murder and crimes against humanity targeting Rohingya. As the victims seek accountability and justice for these horrors, the United States is standing with them.
In his statement, the US secretary of State Blinken said,” Over the past seven years, the United States has contributed nearly$ 2.4 billion in humanitarian assistance. Additionally, they produce thorough records of the crimes and injustices committed against all civilians, including Rohingya.
Blinken once more pledged his support for the Burmese citizens. ” Our help for the citizens of Burma in their dreams for a democrat, equitable, and peaceful coming is unwavering, as are our names on all parties to protect citizens from harm”, he added.
The asynchronous Muslim Rohingya minority, who fled ethnic purging activities in Myanmar in 2017, is especially vulnerable in India and Bangladesh. Crowded refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, near Myanmar’s borders, are where 1 million Rohingya migrants are now housed.
