A woman from New Jersey has filed a lawsuit against American Airlines because it did n’t do enough to stop her from being sexually assaulted by a male passenger who was seated next to her on a two-hour flight in 2022. According to the Independent, the girl was seated between her companion and an unidentified female passenger on the trip that was coming from North Carolina to Newark Liberty International Airport.
The girl closed her eyes after the room lights were out, and when she woke up, she discovered the stranger’s left shoulder inside his pants and his right side forcing her finger onto his penis, both of which were concealed underneath a dark puffer jacket that the stranger had covered both of them with. While the person managed to climb on her bottom, the girl was frozen in a state of shock and stress. The plaintiff finally managed to slam the man and awaken her friend, who had reported the incident to a journey attendant.
The assaulter returned to his seat, acted standard, and also offered water to the victim. The rest of the voyage took the place of the flight attendant. When the plane landed, the gentleman was “escorted off the airplane” while the government took reviews from the lady and other passengers. In her lawsuit, the plaintiff claimed that it was unclear whether the culprit was arrested, charged with sexual abuse, or simply let off.
American Airlines confirmed to the Independent that the complaint is being reviewed. We are looking at the specifics of the journey and the lawsuit. British places a high value on the safety and comfort of our clients.
The complaint cited FBI data that demonstrated a sharp rise in onboard sexual assault allegations, but many of these situations have not been fully investigated. The airline “breached its duty of care by failing to properly track the house, reduce the physical abuse, and fail to act when the abuse occurred,” according to the lawsuit.
