Mark Zuckerberg, the social media firm owned by Meta CEO and Facebook leader, acknowledged on Monday that the Biden-Harris administration had pressured the social media giant to judge Americans. During the 2020 election, Zuckerberg acknowledged that Facebook censored the tale about Hunter Biden’s laptop.
A letter Zuckerberg sent to Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio ) was shared by the House Judiciary GOP on Monday. In the email, Zuckerberg said,” There’s a lot of talk right now around how the U. S. state interacts with companies like Meta, and I want to get clear about our place”. The Facebook leader claimed that the social media platform is” about promoting free talk and helping people connect in a safe and secure way.”
Zuckerberg added,” In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we did n’t agree”.
In the email, Zuckerberg explained that it was “ultimately” Facebook’s decision whether to remove information from the social media platform and that the business took responsibility for its choices, including policy police related to COVID-19 articles in light of the Biden-Harris government’s force.
Zuckerberg remarked,” I regret that we were n’t more open about it, and that the government force was wrong.” ” I also think we made some choices that, with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we would n’t make today”.

In Monday’s letter, Zuckerberg also explained that the Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) “warned” Facebook about a “potential Russian disinformation operation about the Biden family and Burisma” prior to the 2020 election. According to Zuckerberg, the company sent The New York Post’s tale to “fact-checkers for overview” and partially demoted it while awaiting a response.
Zuckerberg acknowledged that it has” since been made clear that the monitoring was not Russian propaganda.” He added,” In retrospect, we should n’t have demoted the story”.
After receiving Zuckerberg’s email, Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee said Zuckerberg’s email admitted that the Biden-Harris management “pressured” the organization to “censor Americans”, that the social media platform finally chose to judge American on social media, and that the business” throttled the Hunter Biden laptop account”. House Republicans also described Zuckerberg’s letter as a “big win for free speech”.
