States are refusing to reduce Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s title from their vote in November in a blatant attempt to stifle Donald Trump’s support for president.
Despite the separate, ex-presidential prospect suspending his campaign last year, at least three of the top battleground states are retaliating. Next, he gave Donald Trump his support.
When Kennedy made the announcement to withdraw from the race on Friday, he said he would “remove” his name from the votes in about 10 battleground states where he might be a” prequel” and take seats away from Trump.
However, Kennedy’s endeavors to withdraw from the race in some states either failed to go as planned or were delayed by the state’s voting deadlines.
According to a report from USA Today, the Wisconsin Elections Commission and the secretary of state’s office in Michigan have confirmed that his name will appear on the votes in Wisconsin and Michigan. And in North Carolina, another important swing state, absent vote with Kennedy’s name on it have already been printed before they’re mailed to voters beginning next year on Sept. 6.
The We The Persons Party, which officially nominated Kennedy, has not yet informed the state of any programs to alter its election, according to a spokeswoman for the North Carolina State Board of Elections.
In close-knit battleground states where Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris are polling within the margins of error of each other, Wisconsin, Michigan, and North Carolina are all closely contested battle state.
The Wisconsin Elections Commission approved its ballot on Tuesday for the November election, which includes candidates for the progressive scientific Cornel West and Green Party member Jill Stein. Kennedy is on the vote as well.
Kennedy may also be on Minnesota poll, among others.
USA Today accounts:
Because the country’s law prohibits anyone who files election documents and qualifies to appear on the ballot from rejecting Kennedy’s request to remove his name from the Wisconsin vote, the petition was rejected. That man, in this case Kennedy, does appear on the ballot “except in case of death of the person”, the law says.
The Minnesota Secretary of State’s office informed USA TODAY that Kennedy’s name will continue to appear on the ballot in the generally Democratic state where the Trump campaign has vowed to turn dark.
Kennedy’s name, however, did not appear on the votes in four different leading battlegrounds states: Pennsylvania Georgia, Nevada and Arizona. In these says, Kennedy either managed to remove properly before the date or his election had not yet been approved.
In Georgia, a prosecutor recently ruled that Kennedy was ineligible for the state’s vote because of concerns about his citizenship. This is a similar decision to the one in New York, where a judge barred Kennedy from the ballot for providing a false home.
Ohio, Texas, and Florida are other states where Kennedy successfully withdrew his candidacy and wo n’t appear on the ballot. Kennedy made it known that he would continue to cast ballots in states where his supporters are unlikely to be tightly contested between Trump and Harris, giving them the chance to also cast their ballots for him.
