More than 1, 000 people have died as a result of the protests against the Sheikh Hasina-led interim government, according to Nobel prize Muhammad Yunus.
Nurjahan Begum, the heath director, shared this information during her attend to the Northern Police Hospital in Rajarbagh, Dhaka. More than 400 people have lost their eyesight as a result of police action, according to her, including kids and open figures. Some have lost vision in one gaze and others in both.
” To date, 1, 000 people have died, and more than 400 students and people have lost look,” according to the statement. Many have been blind in one eye, while others are deaf in both”, Nurjahan was quoted as saying by the bdnews24.com news website.
Nurjahan Begum interacted with wounded police officers and questioned them about their condition while she was in the clinic. She mentioned that some soldiers had head and leg injuries.
Begum even noted that the time administration has pledged to offer free medical care to the hurt and that it has taken responsibility for the deaths of those who have lost their lives.
Some people have had serious leg injuries and even had their arms amputated, according to Nurjahan Begum. We are negotiating with the World Bank and various donation organizations to send a team of doctors from overseas for proper care. We are making work in this regard”.
The protests turned into a violent clash between security forces and protesters after beginning as an anti-discrimination pupil action against the contentious quota system for work.
The action eventually turned into a battle against the government, demanding that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina step down. An interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, an 84-year-old Nobel prize, was formed on August 5 after Hasina left and sought shelter in India.
Although Yunus has pledged to hold elections, it should be remembered that a “free, honest, and public” election can only be held once the time government has carried out crucial reforms.
