A girl’s crying child was locked in a aircraft washroom by two Chinese airline passengers, which sparked a heated discussion online about how to manage crying children in public spaces.
The passengers claimed they were attempting to assist others by locking the child in the bathroom and that they wanted to quiet him because he was constantly crying.
The whole scene’s video went viral on various Taiwanese social media platforms like Weibo and TikTok, where bloggers criticised them for their activities. According to The Independent, one of the women sitting on the bathroom in the movie instructed the child as she struggled out of the individual’s shoulder to keep the bathroom and opened the door. She was then seen telling the baby that she could only leave if she stopped crying.
As the girl stopped crying, the woman filming the video picked her up and told her:” If you make any noise again, we’ll come back ( to the bathroom )”.
Juneyao Airlines, in a speech, said that the incident was reported on August 24 and it was boy’s mother who gave consent to the people to “educate” the crying baby. The airlines added that the mother of the child was informed of the situation through her relative and that she understood the two individuals.
We learned of the online myth that a crying traveler was taken to the room by a man for instruction. We quickly launched an internal investigation and spoke with the child’s parents to get information on the position and check the facts in order to bring the matter back to light,” the statement read in Google’s translation.
” The child was travelling with his grandparents on flight HO2382 ( Guiyang-Pudong ) on August 24. Around 7 am, the aircraft made it to the airport on time. During the journey, the baby continued to weep. With the acceptance of his mother, two travellers took the child to the bathrooms to inform him in order to prevent disturbing other passengers. During the process, the boy’s mother went with him and waited at the room door. We have spoken with the mother of the child about the situation. According to CNN, she claimed to have learned the entire narrative from her mother and that she understood the assistance provided by the two passengers.
However, online users criticize both women. One of the user on China’s X-like Weibo platform said,” Adults in their 30s may have personal breakdowns, but people do n’t let baby to have own”.
” We were all once children… Do n’t be a cold-blooded adult”, read another popular comment.
Gou Tingting, one of the people involved, defended her behavior on Douyin, stating that she wanted to quiet the child and let the other people to relax. ” I prefer to take actions rather than be a bystander”, she wrote. However, her reason did much to quell the reaction, and her social media account has since been set to secret.
