Kamala Harris, her going mate Tim Walz, and US Vice President Kamala Harris spoke with CNN on Friday following President Joe Biden’s decision to not get re-election.
CNN’s chief political editor, Dana Bash, asked Harris about Donald Trump‘s racist attacks, particularly when Trump said his opposition “was n’t Black enough”.
In reply, Harris shook her head, appearing as though she did not want to concentrate on the subject.
” Similar old, tired playbook”, Harris responded.
” Future problem, please”.
” That’s it”? Bash asked.
” That’s it”, Harris replied.
Former US President Donald Trump had made a strong personal assault on Harris on August 1 by claiming that she, after being of” American history” for decades, “turned Black” a few years back.
” She was usually of American history, and she was only promoting Indian traditions. She wanted to be known as black, but I did n’t realize until a few years ago when she just happened to turn black. So I do n’t know, is she Indian or is she black”? CNN quoted him as saying.
If elected in November, Harris was questioned about her plans for her first time in office. Harris emphasized that bolstering the thick class would be her best concern as president. She outlined plans to increase housing affordability and increase the child tax credit, noting that many Americans are also struggling with high charges despite the pandemic’s impact on the economy.
Harris has also received questions from Bash about the significant changes she has made to her legislation since running for president in 2020.
” This been clear: My values have certainly changed. According to Harris,” I think it’s very important that we take what we need to do significantly in order to prevent what is a distinct climate problems.”
Harris also spoke about foreign policy, including whether the US continues to help Israel in its conflict with Gaza.
When questioned if she would withhold some shipments of weapons to Israel, Harris did not respond in a strong way. She reaffirmed her desire for a ceasefire and emphasized the need to bring the captives house.
” I have been committed since October 8 to what we must do to work toward a two-state solution where Israel is stable and, in similar estimate, the Palestinians have security, self-determination, and dignity,” she said.
Bash even questioned Harris’s running partner, Tim Walz, about obvious exaggerations he had made regarding his military history. Walz was questioned about 2018 remarks that made reference to carrying a weapon into battle, something he had not actually done.
He admitted to misspeaking, explaining,” We were talking about, in this case, after a college shooting, the concepts of carrying these weapons of war, and my family, the English instructor, telling me my grammar is not always right”.
Walz defended himself, saying,” My record speaks for itself… I speak in their voice. I speak openly. I wear my feelings on my sleeve, and I express my concern for our kids being shot in classrooms and in the vicinity of artillery. I believe persons recognize me, therefore.
