Former president Donald Trump and his strategy were criticised by Vice President Kamala Harris for “disrespecting a sacred earth, all for the sake of a social stunt.” Kamala Harris took to X and made a drill at the original government’s visit to the Arlington National Cemetery, saying it was a “place where we come together to recognize National soldiers” and not” for politicians.”
” If there is one thing on which we as Americans can all believe, it is that our veterans, military families, and service members may be honoured, not disparaged, and treated with nothing less than our highest admiration and gratitude”, Harris wrote.
The vice president’s first remarks regarding this come after it was reported that a female tomb standard and a Trump worker had an encounter earlier this year. Trump attended a meeting to pay tribute to the three decades since the US withdrawn from Afghanistan at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He was joined by Gold Star people, all of whom passed away.
Violation of graveyard guidelines and Harris’s answer
Harris harshly criticized Trump for breaking the cemetery’s prohibitions on using photos for social purposes. Trump’s plan shared photos showing him grinning and giving a thumbs-up among tombstones, which Harris termed a contempt to divine surface.
” Let me be clear: the former president disrespected sacred earth, all for the sake of a political stunt”, Harris said.
US Army confirms tomb event
After asking Trump’s group to stop filming in a restricted area, the US Army confirmed in a statement released on Thursday that a team member at the tomb was “abruptly pushed away.” This section is reserved for those who were killed in new wars, for which political photos is not permitted.
The worker was allegedly having a mental health event, according to the Trump campaign. The military, however, praised the team member’s professionalism and called the incident “unfortunate.”
Trump defends his steps at a protest.
Trump addressed the issue at a protest in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, arguing it was the families of fallen soldiers who asked for their picture with him.
” I said’ Completely.’ I was n’t doing it for– I do n’t need publicity, I get a lot of publicity. I would like to get a lot less publicity”, Trump said.
He claimed that the condemnation stemmed from how the US handled the US’s withdrawal from Afghanistan and not from the White House.
” Joe Biden killed those young citizens because he was ignorant. Therefore they inform me that I used their graves for PR purposes. And I did n’t. And I’ll show you what, it was a disgrace”, Trump said.
Trump visited the tomb where 13 service members died in a 2021 bombing in Kabul as a result of the US’s departure from Afghanistan. His strategy has emphasised that he would have managed the removal better, making it a key point against the Biden-Harris management.
Ongoing discussion with the government
Trump’s ties with the defense have often been controversial. He often praised the military, but according to his previous chief of staff, he apparently mocked war dead and avoided being seen near military individuals.
Harris ‘ comment on Saturday emphasized her readiness to fight Trump in what is anticipated to be a contentious election.
Trump has mocked Harris’s name, knowledge, look, and cultural personality. In reaction, the Harris plan has described Trump as “weird”, an budding tyrant, and “out of his head”.
Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance, had earlier criticised Harris, responding to a mistaken statement that she had previously commented on the graveyard attend.
” She can go to hell”, Vance said.
Do n’t concentrate on Donald Trump grieving with those who have lost their children. Focus on your own career. Do n’t do this fake outrage thing”, Vance later told the Washington Post.
Harris had never made a public announcement about the visit to the cemetery at the time.
Kevin Carroll, a former top aide to Trump’s country security captain John Kelly, sharply criticized Trump’s activities in an opinion piece for The Guardian.
The picture of a smiling Trump giving these patriots’ graves a jaunty thumbs-up is an unforgettable representation of narcissism eschatological sociopathy, Carroll wrote.
