KINSHASA: An attempted hack in Congo’s major jail left 129 individuals dead, including some who were shot and others who died in a panic at the crowded service, authorities said Tuesday. The death toll was claimed by activists, but they could not give a number.
According to African interior secretary Jacquemin Shabani, a temporary examination revealed that 24 residents were fatally shot by “warning” bullets fired by soldiers as they attempted to leave the Makala Central Prison in the investment of Kinshasa early on Monday. ” There are also 59 wounded persons taken into treatment by the state, as well as some cases of women raped”, he said, adding that purchase has now been restored at the jail.
