It’s barely been four months since the United Methodist Church ( UMC) voted to lift its longstanding ban on” self-avowed practicing homosexuals” serving as clergy. After a full ten years of debate on the subject, which sharply divided the church, came this significant stage of caving to the whims of tradition over the amazing truth of scripture.

The Methodists have divided after five years of waiting for a decision on the subject of queer church. Since 2019, about a fourth of all U.S. Methodist congregations have departed, putting their faith in God over earthly lifestyle. The split is more pronounced in the Southeast, where in some areas, as many as 50 % of communities have left the UMC. Surprisingly, 81 % of temples in Northwest Texas have dissolved into the organization.
In a few months, the UMC is celebrating sin as well as allowing clergy to lead boldly wicked lives. A friend of mine who is a Methodist ( and a conservative ) sent me a Facebook post that linked to a press release trumpeting the denomination’s new Center for LGBTQ+ United Methodist Heritage.
” Reports, music, displays, and a particular movie screen are part of the holidays when the fresh Center for LGBTQ+ United Methodist Heritage holds its Kickoff Celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Craig Chapel on the Drew University campus”, the press release birds. ” The General Commission on Archives and History ( GCAH) will host the event, which is scheduled from 4-8: 30 p. m. ET, and open to the public”.

The event features Randall Miller, an Transgender activist who has long been part of gay rights and other left-wing initiatives as well as Karen Oliveto, the congregation’s first gay priest, while a musician who has written” cultural fairness” hymns” will lead a moment of music, singing and dancing”.

The event will feature a documentary that attempts to make the case that homosexuality was not a sin until 1946 when it was added to the Bible. The truth is that ancient Greek, Latin, and Hebrew did n’t have a word for homosexuality, so the change was a clarification rather than a doctrinal change.
According to Dr. Steven Willing of the Christian Medical &, Dental Association,” the filmmakers seem utterly ignorant of historic Christian doctrine on same-sex sexual behavior. Sodomy was explicitly proscribed in the Mosaic law, the moral foundation of first-century Judaism, in which Jesus, His disciples, and all early Christians lived and breathed. Josephus and Philo, the two foremost Jewish scholars of the first-century Judaism, specifically addressed and condemned it. Would have been huge if Jesus and His disciples had taken a different course on sexuality. There is no conclusive proof that this was the case.
The General Commission on Archives and History’s General Secretary, Dr. Ashley Boggan, stated in the press release that” the significant contributions of our LGBTQ+ siblings within The United Methodist Church have been overlooked for too long.” ” With the opening of the new center, we will intentionally collect, preserve and share Queer Methodist history. We celebrate the United Methodists ‘ ( Welcome ) realization that we are finally able to identify with who we really are.
The Bible is clear that homosexuality is a sin and that the only way to break free from that sin is through repentance and surrender to Christ, which the UMC is ignoring when they double down on supporting the world over sound doctrine. As the Apostle Paul wrote:

Or do you not realize that the wicked will not be able to inherit the throne of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And some of you were like that. But you received sanctification, washing, and sanctification in the name of our God, Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our Lord.
1 Corinthians 6: 9-11 ( ESV )
The UMC needs to undergo a lot of repentance. Pray for the whole denomination.
