The Council on American-Islamic Relations and American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee have designated Emory University as an “institution of certain problem” due to its “hostility” towards anti-Israel scholar protesters.
According to , The Williams Wheel ( which follows CAIR’s guide and refers to the protesters as “anti-genocide” ), the parties allege that Emory, along with George Washington University and UCLA,” set the standard for creating a completely hostile and dangerous culture” for Muslims and Palestinians.
Back in April, CAIR-Georgia and Palestine Legal filed a federal civil rights issue on behalf of Emory’s Students for Justice in Palestine, alleging the university created a “hostile anti-Palestinian and Antisemitic environment”.
Two months later, CAIR-Georgia claimed Emory was” tokenizing” and “furthering a pattern of exclusion” against Muslim students because its search for a full-time Muslim chaplain was n’t “inclusive” enough.
According to Farah Afify, CAIR’s Farah Afify claimed Emory has” cultivated a society in which discrimination and abuse against Israeli Arabs and Muslims was officially permitted and even permitted.”
Afify continued,” It’s actually important for school administrators to stand up against Islamophobia, anti-Palestinian, and anti-Muslim attitude, especially in the event that there is no such thing as discrimination and abuse against people who are standing up for genocide.”
A board part of the SJP claimed Emory is “very isolating” for Muslim, Arab and pro-Palestine individuals.
” I remember thinking next year, if I was a rookie, I had had transferred”, the committee member said. ” We have each other as a society, but to think that your own management, your own college, is repressing you is a very, very hard feeling to find used to”.
CAIR claimed Emory officials had” justified]the ] harassment” of Muslim and Palestinian students by informing them that saying” Free Palestine” meant “associating themselves with terrorism”.
It also alleged the class used “tasers, break oil, and plastic guns” against individuals at a “peaceful” sit-in show.
According to Columbia Spectator reports that CAIR recently issued a warning to the school’s president about “legal action” if the university discloses the House Committee on Education and the Workforce with regard to the school’s administrative records of pro-Hamas scholar protesters. CAIR contends that doing so would violate individuals ‘ First Amendment rights.
