Kamala Harris Can’t Stop Talking About GOP Policies Because Hers Are Indefensible

The obsequious press and Kamala Harris ‘ dreadful interview with CNN’s Dana Bash revealed a lot about the political member. Perhaps the most interesting: For someone so willing to attack another ‘ plan ideas, Harris seems very unwilling to offer some of her own.

I make reference, of sure, to the attacks by the Harris plan, the Joe Biden reelection campaign, and the left in common in relation to Project 2025, a policy and management template released by a coalition of liberal organizations so that the next conservative president you launch the campaign in January. Donald Trump’s political campaign has been accused frequently of saying that no outdoors organization can influence what policies he would put in place if elected.

Those caveats besides, it’s for unpacking the dynamics of the attacks, because they reveal much about the condition of our present politics— and not for the better, however.

Irony 1: Plans Are’ Controversial’ Because They’re Rational

I’ll admit that while I read the Project 2025 book on health care in excellent aspect, I did not do the same with the majority of the other 900-page sections or the lots of plan suggestions that are contained here. ( Side note: If a left-wing companion, or part of the internet, starts making remarks about Project 2025, ask them if they’ve actually read the entire file itself. The range might be so minuscule that it almost seems zero.

The majority of Project 2025 criticisms assume that the proposals contained in the policy blueprint have some unhappy or extreme elements. To which there is one clear answer: Duh.

At present, our nation is running deficits approaching$ 2 trillion a year, which are projected to be at record-high amounts as a portion of our business in peace. Project 2025 in general, and the health care chapter in particular, emphasize that the federal government cannot continue this unsustainable spending. The blueprint’s policy proposals aim to correct many of the federal government’s components, including the health care initiatives that are currently consuming the federal budget.

Almost by definition, any plan to reduce deficits this large will become unpopular, in the same way that a parent telling a child he cannot stay up until midnight, or eat ice cream for dinner, will make the parent unpopular. That does n’t mean the parent should n’t insist on the principled, even if unpopular, behavior — and so it is with Project 2025’s suggestions for fiscal responsibility in Washington.

Irony 2: Kamala Harris Has No Policy Plans

This was made clear in the CNN interview. Harris fumbled around to find out what she would change ( perhaps because she is currently serving as the current administration’s vice president ) on day one. She did n’t provide a clear answer about her position on fracking. She made no mention of her positions on the controversial new fuel economy regulations that will require automakers to pump out money-losing electric vehicles for Americans, the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan three years ago, or other pressing issues.

Democrat operatives have spent the past week or so trying to run away from one of the few areas where Harris has presented a semi-specific proposal — a federal ban on price gouging. They have asserted on the ground that it would never pass Congress, even if Democrats won the majority of both chambers, and that price gouging restrictions would only take effect in certain specific circumstances ( such as a natural disaster ). If either or both are the case, then why did Harris even make this announcement, other than as a political stunt to try to grab attention?

Harris and her campaign have avoided particular policy ideas like the plague for someone who enjoys taking potshots at the Project 2025 proposals. No wonder the CNN interview appeared to have spent more time discussing Harris ‘ grandniece’s reaction to the Democratic National Convention and what Harris enjoys making for Sunday breakfast than what she would do as president.

Irony 3: Harris Does n’t Have Any Plans Because Her First Presidential Campaign Ideas Are Radical,

There’s a reason why Harris wants to run a policy-free campaign. Consider the policies that Harris and her campaign have tried to backtrack on since running for president five short years ago. She pledged to ban fracking. She backed the ban on private health insurance, and she then said in a “moderation” that people could choose a private plan, but only after they had already lost the current coverage.

And then there’s immigration. Kamala Harris pushed for decriminalizing border violations, argued that the World Health Organization could have a veto over the enforcement of our immigration laws, and suggested allowing the country’s 200 million” climate displaced persons” to enter.

When Harris attempts to distance herself from nearly all of the major proposals from her most recent presidential campaign, it’s more than a little rich for the left, Harris, Democrats, and the rest of the left to criticize Project 2025. If the Trump campaign is wise, it will interpret those ideas as Kamala Harris ‘ own Project 2025, unless and until she releases a number of detailed policy proposals outlining what Joe Biden will do in the event that she is elected. &nbsp,
