As the two airplanes collided at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday, officials from the Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ) announced that a Delta Airbus A350’s wingtip” struck the tail” of an Endeavor Bombardier CRJ900 jet.
In a speech released after the tragedy, the FAA said,” While Delta Air Lines Flight 295 was driving for withdrawal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, its wing struck the tails of Endeavor Air Flight 5526″.
According to the FAA, the Delta Airbus was immediately heading to Tokyo, while the Endeavor Bombardier was heading to Lafayette, Louisiana. The agency noted that it would be investigating the incident, which took place at the intersection of” two taxiways” at roughly 10: 10 a. m. ( local time ) on Tuesday.
In a statement on its website, Delta confirmed,” The wing of an Airbus A350 driving out as DL295 from Atlanta to Tokyo-Haneda made contact with the neck of an Endeavor Air CRJ-900, DL5526 to LaFayette, Louisiana, on an opposite runway, resulting in harm to the neck of the local aircraft and the flap of the A350″.

No wounds had been reported, according to Delta, noting that 221 users were on the Airbus and 56 were on the Mission Aviation at the time of the event. Additionally, the flight stated in a new affirmation that it had “worked with each customer… to accommodate our customers on alternative aircraft scheduled to depart Tuesday mid-day.”
Delta apologized to the company’s clients and stated that it was” cooperating with the NTSB and different specialists while Delta TechOps groups prepare to comfortably move both plane to repair cockpits.”
A photograph shared by Jason Adams, a scientist for WFTS, shows one of the flights, which appears to have had its horizontal stabilizers broken off as a result of Tuesday’s motion.
” Well that was terrifying. Another aircraft appears to have clipped the backside of our airplane as we are traveling from Atlanta to Louisiana,” Adams wrote in the accompanying photograph. ” Very jarring, metallic scraping sounds finally loud curls. We’re excellent. No fire or smoke” . ,
A video shared on X, previously Twitter, also shows the harm caused by Tuesday’s motion between the two helicopters in Atlanta.
