U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated the “importance of a robust and dignified peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia” in a September 16 contact with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, according to State Department official Matthew Miller .
He added that Blinken applauded new advances made by the fierce rivals, including deal on a border-delimitation rule, which has angered some Iranian opposition figures.
Blinken and Aliyev even discussed areas for regional and bilateral cooperation, including the importance of Azerbaijan’s “adherence to international human rights duty and commitments”, the U. S. official added.
