Gov. On Tuesday, Ron DeSantis signed an executive order directing the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution and Florida organizations to lead the state’s independent investigation into the next death effort against President Donald Trump.
” ]I ] t’s not in the best interest of our state or our nation to have the same federal agencies that are seeking to prosecute Donald Trump leading this investigation”, DeSantis said during a press conference, noting how this is “especially]true ] when the most serious, straightforward offense constitutes a violation of state law, but not federal law”.
” In addition to holding the assume guilty, the public deserves to know the truth about how this assassination]attempt] came to be”, he continued.
The GOP president’s announcement came two days after Secret Service agents spotted Ryan Routh camping in the bushes close to Trump’s West Palm Beach golfing lessons. Officials spotted Routh, who had a huge rifle, while the former leader was playing golf a few hundred yards away.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle after the Service fired him, before being apprehended. According to a Florida Voice News report, Routh “appeared in federal court on Monday and is being charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person ( convicted felon ) and with possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number,” citing a case complaint.
According to Fox News, it is rumored that the assume may face additional charges.
Routh is a , lifelong Democrat donor , who has regurgitated , “anti-Trump language” often used by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, as noted by the New York Post.  ,
DeSantis ‘ executive order directs the country’s Departments of Law Enforcement and Highway Patrol to “work with all state, regional, local governmental agencies, and governmental agencies to do a solid and complete investigation into the intended assassination” against Trump. DeSantis cited the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution’s work with these organizations to “ensure that charges are brought against all state law violations and maintain open transparency in the investigation method.”
” This deranged, would-be assassin broke Florida law, and we will not wait on the federal government to act” , , Moody said in a Tuesday release. As we work swiftly to uncover the details behind this most recent attempt on President Trump’s life and give trust and transparency to the American people, I have directed my nationwide lawyers to help FDLE and FHP.
DeSantis noted during Tuesday’s briefing that Florida has authority “over the most critical, simple act, which is attempted death”, and expressed opinion the attempt on Trump’s life merits “life in prison”. He also said federal prosecutors ‘ determination to charge” a couple]of] weapon charges” against Routh is not” enough” to keep the would-be assassin guilty or to ultimately hinder similar severe attempts from happening in the future.
According to DeSantis, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement officials” saved all]Routh’s ] social media” at the governor’s direction shortly after news of the attempted assassination became public.
The GOP government added that Florida is “in a better position… to answer the public,” citing the lack of tangible details that emerged following the initial assassination attempt against Trump in Butler County, Pennsylvania, earlier this year. ( Both investigations were primarily led by federal agencies. )
” I think again about what happened in Las Vegas, again 6, 7 years back. There are no responses to that, ever. I think back about what happened in Butler, Pennsylvania, ]and we have n’t ] gotten very many answers about that” DeSantis said. The Florida organizations working from local to national have the opportunity to conduct a thorough research and then provide the truth about what transpired, in my opinion.
“]T] here’s two really significant interests: Holding him]the would-be assassin ] accountable and then delivering the truth about how this could have happened”, DeSantis added.
The government vowed to make the findings of its research public.
