President Masud Pezeshkian claims that Iran has certainly given Russia any arms since he took office in soon July, which would only require that Washington show it is not “hostile” toward the Islamic nation.

The 69-year-old Pezeshkian, deemed a relative moderate by some observers, on September 16 even took a hostile voice, &nbsp, declaring&nbsp, that his country did not give up its controversial&nbsp, missile program, despite European sanctions aimed at limiting like activities.

In his first official media event, Pezeshkian, who won an election to achieve hard-line President Ebrahim Raisi after his dying in a May plane crash, spoke in Tehran.

The nationwide broadcast event took place at a time of great tensions, both inside Iran and throughout the Middle East.

Iran is facing significant economic problems, much of it brought on by American sanctions, and growing anger among people, led by children’s organizations, over human rights violations at house.

A female journalist told Pezeshkian during the news conference that she had to travel to the event to avoid so-called morality police officers, who frequently use brutal tactics and slam dissent from rights groups. They follow strict conservative dress standards for women.

During the news conference, the president said he would use his authority to ensure that the morality police do not “bother” women.

” Morality police were not supposed to confront]women]. I will follow up so they do n’t bother” them, he said, although it remains unclear how much authority he would actually have to make changes.

Tehran has also been subject to new sanctions from the West as a result of moves to send weapons to Russia that the Kremlin has used to attack Ukrainian forces and civilians, particularly deadly Shahed drones.

More recently, media reports have suggested that Tehran has provided the Kremlin with powerful surface-to-surface ballistic missiles.

” It is possible that a delivery ]of some weapons ] took place in the past…but I can assure you that since I took office, there has not been any such delivery to Russia”, he said.

When asked whether Tehran would be willing to hold direct talks with the United States to rekindle the nuclear agreement signed in 2015, Pezeshkian responded that” We are not hostile toward the United States. They should end their hostility toward us by showing their goodwill in practice.”

” We are also American brothers,” the statement goes.

As president, Donald Trump in 2018 unilaterally pulled the United States out of the landmark nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA ) and also signed by China, France, Russia, Britain, and Germany.

Trump also reinstituted crippling financial sanctions against Tehran.

Although Washington and Tehran have met through third parties, the terms of the agreement have diverged, President Joe Biden has vowed to restart it.

Tehran was forced to do so by the U.S. withdrawal from the pact, Pezeshkian insisted that it was not trying to enrich uranium at near-weapons-grade levels.

” I think, we said many times, we do n’t want to do this at all. We are not looking for nuclear weapons, Pezeshkian said in response to a question from AP.

” We adhered to the framework written in the]nuclear agreement ]. We are still looking to maintain those frameworks. They tore them, they forced us to do something”.

Tehran and Washington have not communicated diplomatically since 1980, when American President Jimmy Carter cut ties with each other during the Iran hostage crisis.

In reference to Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas movement, Pezeshkian claimed Iran would never give up its missile program, claiming it was needed for security in a troubled region. In response, he claimed, Israel is able to “drop missiles on Gaza every day,” referring to that nation’s war with Hamas movement, which the United States and the European Union have labeled a terrorist organization.

Pezeshkian also refuted Iran’s claims that Yemen’s Huthi rebels had been targeted by ships in the Persian Gulf and have been launched at Israel as of September 15 by Iranian airsonic missiles.
