We’ve covered militants who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump half in the last two decades. One got close, grazing his ear with a bullet on July 13 in Butler, Pa., while another would-be shooter did n’t get a shot off but was ready to try to kill Trump at his Palm Beach, Fla., golf course on Sunday.

Democrats have been pressing for the former president to receive more security. On Sunday, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La. ), who had his own experience with a would-be murderer in 2017, posted on Twitter:

Authorities only acknowledged if President Trump was chairman, they’d do more to protect him.

    This may shift.

There have been TWO efforts on Trump’s lifestyle.

Secret Service had up their level of protection of him to their FULL capabilities—including expanding the boundary.

A budget boost for the Secret Service is currently being considered by Congress. Obviously, the discussions are exacerbated by the budget showdown and the looming prospective government shutdown, both of which appear to be a characteristic and not a insect these days.

According to Just the News,” The Secret Service’s ask for more money following the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life has hampered budget discussions amid the risk of a government stoppage.” Before the funding deadline in two weeks for Congress to approve the appropriations for the following fiscal year, the agency held private meetings with lawmakers on the subject.

Ronald Rowe, the acting Secret Service director, wrote to congressional leaders to request more funding for his organization. After a member of the Senate inquired if additional funding would benefit the Secret Service, this was announced. Following two attempted murders of Trump, Joe Biden has also demanded more money.

When the suspect in Sunday’s attempted assassination made a court appearance in Florida on two firearm charges, Biden suggested the agency needed more resources, according to Roll Call.

” One thing I want to make clear is: the Service needs more help”, Biden said to reporters. And I believe Congress should take into account their requirements.

He makes it seem so straightforward, like when Congress can simply write a check and turn it over to Rowe. However, the Secret Service is a part of the clumsy federal budget, and it is subject to the already contentious funding process.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N. ) Y. ) has stated that he would think about adding Secret Service funding to the upcoming spending bill.

In a speech, he said,” Congress has a responsibility to make sure the Secret Service and all law enforcement have the resources they need.” ” So as we continue the appropriations process, if the Secret Service is in need of more resources, we are … prepared to provide it for them, possibly in the upcoming funding agreement”.

Members of the House from both parties are n’t certain that adding more money to the organization will solve the organization’s problems. &nbsp,

” President Trump needs the most coverage of anyone”, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La. ) said on” Fox &amp, Friends”. ” He’s the most attacked, he’s the most threatened, even probably more than when he was in the Oval Office. Therefore, we are making demands in the House that he have every resource at hand and that we will increase if necessary. I do n’t think it’s a funding issue. I think it’s a manpower allocation”.

” Two assassination attempts in 60 days on a former President &amp, the Republican nominee is unacceptable”, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif. ) posted on Facebook. ” The Secret Service must come to Congress tomorrow, tell us what resources are needed to expand the protective perimeter, &amp, let’s allocate it in a bipartisan vote the same day”.

Johnson and Khanna are right. Politicians and bureaucrats can debate giving the Secret Service more funding until they’re blue in the face, but the organization that is supposed to be protecting Trump needs to do more with the resources it already has. The Secret Service needs to take his protection more seriously.
