
In a talk before the UN on Tuesday that defended his foreign policy tradition after four years in office, President Joe Biden addressed the country’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan directly.
” When I came to office as leader, Afghanistan had replaced Vietnam as America’s longest war”, Biden said in New York City. ” I was determined to end it, and I did. It was a tough decision, but the correct choice. Four American president had to make that choice, but I was determined to leave it with the fifth.
Biden’s standing at home was immediately harmed by the decision to leave. Thirteen company members were killed at the Kabul airport in 2021, marking a recent celebration marked by his political rival, former president Donald Trump, by visiting Arlington National Cemetery. Trump, who has pledged less American presence in international war, received a veiled warning against protectionism.
” We defended the U. N. Charter and ensured the life of Ukraine as a complimentary society”, Biden said. ” There will always be forces to take our countries off, and the earth off — anger, fanaticism, conflict, and cynicism, a desire to flee from the world and go it alone”.
In his first address to the General Assembly since Hamas massacred Israeli citizens and soldiers on October 7, Biden urged a peace and a two-state answer. Hamas did so in a speech to the Council on October 7. He claimed that the people of Hamas patients and residents in Gaza are “going through hell.”
A peace and captive agreement was proposed by Biden with Qatar and Egypt. The parties must then agree on the terms of the agreement, take the captives home, secure protection for Israel and Gaza from Hamas’s hand, ease the suffering in Gaza, and put an end to the conflict.

The remarks defended underlying principles like the U.N. Charter and outlined Biden’s vision for how the earth should prioritize international cooperation. Additionally, he demanded that the war in Sudan be ended, and he added that NATO is stronger than ever as a result of the changes of Finland and Sweden.
Biden acknowledged right away that this would be his last address before the legislature at the beginning of his remarks, noting that his involvement with American foreign policy dates back to his time serving in the Senate.
