SINGAPORE: Singapore’s Indian-origin past transport secretary S Iswaran no longer faces bribery charges, the High Court said in his trial on Tuesday, adding that prosecutors will, but, deal with five other matters including obtaining useful products as a public servant. According to a report in The Straits Times, the prosecution will proceed on four counts of obtaining valuable items as a public servant under Section 165 of the Penal Code and one count of obstructing the course of justice under Section 204A ( a ).
All the other 30 fees may be taken into consideration, it said.
Davinder Singh, Iswaran’s attorney, stated that his client would be” taking a certain course of action” given that the prosecution is no longer pursuing charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
He is therefore expected to enter a criminal plea.
Iswaran, 61, charged on January 18, was previously granted SGD 800, 000 loan.
