After examining more than 2, 800 pages of information and conducting 12 conversations, the bipartisan Senate report on the United States Secret Service’s ( USSS) management of Trump’s infamous protest in Butler, Pa. —where Thomas Crooks, a nasty, pimply-faced incel picture Trump and hit three people, one of whom died on the scene—shows the Secret Service made a animal’s supper of their so-called protection of the GOP presidential candidate.

Here are a few lessons that can be learned from the devastating statement:
The USSS provided a lot of the information, but a lot of it was strongly redacted. The Senate Committee has asked for information from the FBI, ATF, and DHS, and many have n’t been provided, throwing a monkey wrench into the research.
The Committee’s ability to carry out its constitutional authority to investigate and gather the information necessary to identify needed changes has excessively been hampered by this.  , These unduly burdensome edits, including of contacts related to the same individuals who the Committee interviewed, merely served to postpone the Committee’s ability to conduct these interviews and carry out its analysis efficiently and effectively. – Analysis of U.S. Secret Service Planning and Security Issues Associated with the Interim Joint Report on Assassination efforts from July 13, 2024
Important Failure: USSS authorities responsible for planning the Butler, Pa., protest denied/deflected when asked to take responsibility for their lack of planning. USSS providers alleged that plotting was the duty of boards, and thus, no people were solely responsible.
FACT-O-RAMA! The FBI has cleaned the dome where Crooks fired from. Despite preventing legislative officials from inspecting his bones, the incel was slowly cremated ten days after his shooting and death.

Communications issues were a part of what gave the incel the power to fire at Trump. 27 days before the gunman fired, USSS agents learned that there was a dubious man. The direct advance broker, site agent, and site counterpart of the USSS all testified that they were not notified of a dubious person using a range finder while walking around.
According to the statement:  ,
A USSS Hercules 1 shop rifle received a regional television on July 13 but claimed he had no time to pick it up because he was busy fixing complex issues with his USSS television. Additionally, the USSS Special Agent in Charge ( SAIC ) of the Pittsburgh field office gave the Lead Agent his radio at the Pittsburgh airport before the motorcade left for the rally because the Lead Agent’s radio was inoperable.  ,  ,
As Crooks was stalking the march basis, the USSS was delayed by a lack of rapid communications.  ,
Also noteworthy is that the USSS helicopter operator was attempting to land his drone in the air with the drone manufacturer’s customer service on the phone with less than three months of experience.

Important Failure:  , The USSS failed to secure the AGR tower, where Crooks climbed to the ceiling and fired, even though authorities were” involved”, and the USSS sniper staff had only an obstructed view of the structure. Additionally, the USSS did not request the local law enforcement to cover the building or remove Trump from the stage. A law enforcement official sent a radio message a few minutes before Crooks fired to inform the audience that the AGR building had a suspicious man on the roof. A message that the suspect man had a gun was sent twenty-two seconds before Crooks fired. Several USSS officials testified that they did not hear that Crooks was armed.
FACT-O-RAMA! USSS resources were allegedly taken from the Trump rally to protect Jill Biden, who was giving a speech an hour away, despite knowing about Iran’s plan to kill him.

What have we learned?
The mistakes made by the USSS are glaring and unforgivable, yet no one has been fired. As mentioned, most the the USSS officials deny responsibility for the shooting. Cheadle, the former USSS Director, is the only one to resign.  ,
An assassin’s attempt to kill Trump was the “perfect storm” due to USSS negligence.  ,
