    Who is Eric Adams? First sitting NYC mayor to face criminal charges

    As part of a national problem research, New York City Mayor Eric Adams is currently facing an indictment. He was elected nearly three years ago and pledged to reduce crime and improve public health. The governor has claimed that the prosecution was justified because of his public outcry against the migratory crisis.
    According to sources with knowledge of the case, Adams is expected to face criminal charges, but the details remain unnamed as the prosecution has not yet been made people, according to the New York Times.
    This growth is significant because Adams becomes the first sitting mayor of New York City to face criminal charges, casting a darkness over his leadership and his efforts to reform the area.
    Who is Eric Adams?
    The 54-year-old is 110th mayor of New York City and was elected in 2021.
    Growing up in a home usually that faced economic issues, such as evacuation threats and food insecurity, Adams ‘ career took a important turn at age 15, when he was beaten by officers officers.
    Eventually, he chose to join the New York Police Department ( NYPD). He served in the NYPD for over 20 years, rising to the rank of captain.
    During his day as an agent, he became known for advocating authorities measures, particularly against racial discrimination and wrongdoing. A group called” 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care” was founded by Adams and aimed to promote safer neighborhoods while holding law enforcement account.
    He also contributed significantly to the creation of the city’s first computerized crime-tracking method, which significantly improved public health.
    From police to making guidelines: Adam’s years in public support
    In 2006, Adams was elected to the New York State Senate, making the transition from policing to politicians. He represented portions of Brooklyn, championing factors such as client rights, workers ‘ privileges, and the decrease of gun violence. Adams was a vocal opponent of the NYPD’s controversial stop-and-frisk policy and played a key role in advancing human rights legislation, including marriage equality.
    In 2013, Adams became Brookly n’s first Black Borough President. During his tenure, he focused on reducing inequality, improving public safety, and fostering economic growth. His hands-on efforts to support vulnerable New Yorkers, including the distribution of food and personal protective equipment, were a key component of his leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic.
    On November 17, 2020, Adams announced his intention to run for mayor of New York City. When it came to the amount raised, he was the Democratic candidate’s top fundraiser, surpassed only by Raymond McGuire.
    In the general election, Adams squared off against Republican Curtis Sliwa, who was greatlyfavored to win. On November 2, 2021, he defeated Sliwa with 67.4 % of the vote to 27.9 % and won to become the mayor.
