A , New Jersey  , gentleman was busted for stashing a “large stash of illegal weapon” in the crawl space of his household, thanks in part to his social media posts in gun enthusiast groups, authorities said.
The Totowa Police Department , launched its investigation into 35-year-old , Kyle Arena , earlier this year, after they received an anonymous message detailing some of his “reckless engagement with weapon”, officials said in a press release on Thursday. A screenshot of a “photo of a man pointing a firearm out of a glass while driving a car” and several other pictures that depict “illegal products like silencers” were included in the idea.
In order to verify the tip, authorities conducted an online investigation that led to the issuance of a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order ( TERPO ). According to police, the mandate allows authorities to search for and briefly seize all firearms, ammunition, and other harmful items, including knives.
A subsequent research of Arena’s house, where he lives with his parents, turned up” 129 fully-loaded illegal high-capacity magazines, thousands of rounds of ammunitions, many illegal sharp-edged weapons, nuclear body shield, a helmet, and parts used to create and modify firearms”, police said, adding that they also confiscated four explosive devices.
Arena was detained on Tuesday and is facing a number of costs related to the hands and distribution of weapons and bombs.
Arena’s parents, 66-year-old , Felix Arena, was even taken into custody on matters of disorderly conduct, violent threats, and resisting arrest. He was kept in prison while his initial court appearance was pending.
