When senator Rosie Duffield left the Labour Party on Saturday, Prime Minister Keir Starmer faced the first withdrawal in his novel British government. Starmer was accused of hypocrisy by accepting more than £100,000 in gifts while cutting about 10 million elderly ‘ annual £300 winter heat payment.
Duffield criticized Starmer in a letter addressed to the UK PM for putting” violent and unwanted” policies into place. ” The sleaze, corruption, and apparent selfishness are off the size”, she wrote. Additionally, Duffield cited the inconsistentness of a president who favors lavish gifts while repressing some ‘ preferences. She said,” I am so afraid of what you and your inner group have done to damage and insult our when proud celebration.”
Starmer’s decision to keep a cap on gain payments intended to help families with children was also criticized by the Labour MP. She argued that Starmer’s understanding of lavish presents lacked Employment values. ” This is completely undeserving of holding the title of Labour Prime Minister”, she added.
Starmer’s understanding of donations, according to the news agency AFP, has caused tension within the party, especially at the first Labour Party conference since regaining control. After 14 years in the opposition, Labor had won a landslide victory in the July vote, but the continued controversy at the conference slammed the proceedings.
According to political regulations, Starmer declared all products and made them. Since December 2019, records show that he has received more products and kindness than any other senator. Additionally, it was revealed that Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner accepted opulent products and money.
The Labour Party defended the decision to abolish the £300 payment to elderly, citing a need to address a” £22 billion black hole” left by the previous Conservative government. Despite this army, Starmer lost a metaphorical vote at the party meeting, which called for the reversal of this plan. Although non-binding, the election’s result was a loss for Starmer and demonstrated strong criticism from group activists and union followers.
I do n’t understand how the super-rich are left out of the winter fuel allowance, according to Unite Union general secretary Sharon Graham.
Duffield intends to run for office as an independent MP in the future, guided by her” key Labour values.”
However, the ex-chairwoman of the Conservative Party, Baroness Warsi, also resigned from the House of Lords, alleging that the group has shifted to the “far right”.
The peer, who served as Britain’s second Muslim cabinet secretary under David Cameron’s league, criticised the group for its “hypocrisy and twice standards in its therapy of various communities”. The Conservatives assert, however, that she was on the verge of facing charges for supposedly using “divisive speech.”
