A veterinarian was mortally mauled by a cat on Saturday night, at a wildlife park in south-western Nigeria, after failing to secure the wall locks during giving, according to BBC reports.
The 35-year-old gentleman, Babaji Daule, was employed at the National Library Wildlife Park, owned by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. After the cat attacked him, Daule suffered” major fatal injury to the neck,” according to local police spokeswoman Omolola Odutola.
When Daule led a group of friends to the monkey’s feeding schedule, the event took place. In an established speech, the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library revealed that the veterinarian had left the safe gate open, feeling” secure” around the dog. This error caused the lethal harm.
” The veterinarian, apparently, feeling comfortable with the dog, left the safety security gate opened and proceeded to feed the dog. He was beaten by the creature and died instantly, according to the statement.
Authorities soon intervened, shooting the bear to discharge its hold and prevent further damage to Daule’s body. The dog was soon put down by park staff to prevent further amputation of the body, according to the park officials.
Daule, who is described as a trained cat manager, was the next zookeeper in Nigeria to have been fatally injured by a cat in the past year. Worries about the government’s safety laws and management procedures for handling wild animals in captivity were raised by the earlier event at Obafemi Awolowo University, which is located in southwest Nigeria.
