Verizon, an American telecommunications firm, experienced significant interruptions on Monday that affected thousands of users, especially in places like Chicago and Indianapolis. Many phone users reported that their products were stuck in” SOS” style.
According to Downdetector.com, the troubles began around 9.30am ET, leading to over 66, 000 failure information by 12.28pm ET, affecting locations including Minneapolis, Phoenix, Omaha, and Denver, according to Reuters News Agency.
Our engineers are working swiftly to identify and fix the problem, according to Verizon Communications, who acknowledged the situation. Many consumers shared their anger on social media platform X by sharing that their phones displayed” SOS,” which indicated a lack of connection to the cellular system while still allowing disaster calls through other companies.
In comparison, AT&, T reported just 1, 111 event reports on the same interruption tracker, but the provider claimed it was not facing a global issue. AT&, T suggested that Downdetector’s information reflected problems users were having connecting with customers on another system.
The news of the Verizon outage follows the company’s recent announcement of a$ 3.3 billion deal to lease, operate, and manage 6, 339 mobile towers across the US with infrastructure firm Vertical Bridge. In February, AT&, T faced its own global failure, affecting more than 70, 000 users and prompting an inspection by the Federal Communications Commission.
