Dockworkers in a hit over pay and automation started picking up early on Tuesday in Texas from Maine to Texas. If the attack continues, it may cause inflation peaks and scarcity of products.
As per the news agency AP, the contract for about 45, 000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association ( ILA ) expired at midnight. The staff decided to go on strike despite some reports of progress being made in negotiations on Monday.
This is the ILA’s first strike since 1977, and it affects 36 US docks.
At the Port of Philadelphia, laborers began picketing shortly after midnight, singing,” No function without a good deal”.
