Rapper Rich Homie Quan, who helped represent Atlanta’s hip-hop scene, died in September from a lethal combination of fentanyl, alprazolam ( Xanax ), codeine and promethazine, the Fulton County, Georgia, medical examiner confirmed to The Times.
The” Lifestyle” and” Type of Way” rapper’s death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner said Wednesday. Rich Homie Quan ( real name Dequantes Devontay Lamar ) died Sept. 5 in his hometown of Atlanta. He was 34.
The band’s cause of death was revealed by the medical examiner’s office nearly a quarter after it claimed in a Sept. 6 release that it had performed an autopsy and that results were pending” the execution of lab studies and tissue slides ‘ microscopic examination.”
According to the recording of a 911 call obtained and made available by Atlanta outlet , 11 Alive, Amber Williams ‘ girl claimed to have found Rich Homie Quan’s boyfriend unresponsive before he passed away at Grady Memorial Hospital. In the saving, Williams may be heard requesting an emergency.
” He always got away. I do n’t feel a heartbeat, I do n’t see him breathing”, she says in the recording. ” He sort of bubbled at the mouth”.
Hip-hop artists like Playboi Carti, Boosie Badazz, and Migos singer Quavo paid tribute on social media as Wealthy Homie Quan’s suicide became known earlier this month.
” Never go forget yo smile n the way]you] talked n of course yo music”, Boosie , wrote , on X ( formerly Twitter ).
Rich Homie Quan was also known for collaborations with musicians including , Young Thug , and Tyga. Yo Gotti, Fetty Wap, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj are among the performers who have worked with the” Flex” designer.
A day after the band’s death, his parents Corey Lamar , mourned his son , on Instagram, writing he was in “unbearable pain”.
The elder Lamar continued on Instagram,” Lord please choose aid please help me understand this.” ” To lose my son ( my 1st born, my best friend. Lord please let this be a dream…Yall worship for me and my home”.
He added:” I feel like I’m crushed into a million pieces”.
Rich Homie Quan’s Atlanta area came out by the lots on Sept. 17 for a celebration of life held in South Fulton, Fox 5 Atlanta , reported. The company featured personal testimony from the band’s parents, a moving tribute by other Atlanta music star , Michael” Killer Mike” Render , and homage from Rich Homie Quan’s kids.
Weeks after the support, Williams  , wrote on Instagram , that her husband’s dying “has to be the toughest thing I’ve always endured” and made her feel “like people ripped my soul out of my neck”.
Almost a quarter after Rich Homie Quan’s dying, a new record,  ,” Song Cry”, was released on Monday. He raps about hiding his emotions and finding a” safe place” in his music over a slow trap beat and becomes vulnerable.
” I go so crazy inside of my mind/ I do n’t know why, but on stage, I get shy”, he raps. ” I wear these shades so they ca n’t see my eyes”.
