The Sick and Locked Down List of restaurant assessment problems results after a week of absence, big on the standing water but light on the rabbits.
So let’s see who did n’t pass muster in , Miami-Dade,  , Broward , and , Palm Beach , counties.
We do n’t choose who gets inspected and we do n’t do the inspecting. That’s done by the , Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Immediately address any concerns about eateries there.
We do this without interest or discrimination, but with a little laughter and a jump of judgment.
In chronological order:
Benihana,  , 3261 SW 160th Ave.,  , Miramar: Statement assessment, two entire transgressions, one High Priority infraction.
” Floor places covered with standing water”. Where? ” The dining area place, below customers ‘ tables and seats, the bar area, the back desk facing the rice place, the home area”.
And calling it” standing water” does n’t completely describe the composition.
” Sewage/wastewater was backing upward through floor empties” in the bar area, sushi place, outside the back gate, the four drainage in the kitchen area and two drainage in the microwave place -bar place.
” Discovered individual stepping on wastewater. One individual was peeling natural crustaceans” while standing in wastewater.
Benihana , chopped the problem down to size and passed examination the next day.
El Mariachi,  , 1937 N. Military Trail, Unincorporated Palm Beach County: Routine observation, 13 total transgressions, 10 High Priority violations.
About 10 life bugs were crawling on the inside of an unoccupied walk-in cooler/freezer. On a home energy store, another two roaches also played. On the three-compartment drop and the rear of a chest freezer, there were two additional bugs in the kitchen.
An individual “went from handling stained dishes to washing hands with no soap at the three-compartment fall to serving food”
For proper handwashing, you do n’t need Lava, but you do need some actual soap — which the kitchen handwash sink lacked along with paper towels.
” Employee washed food storage containers with shampoo, rinsed them with water, and then repurposed for food storage without sanitizing.” That works at home, but not in a cafe.
Despite spending the night in a walk-in cooler, which was evidently about as great as your excellent friend’s grey Chrysler Polara, the inspector dropped a Stop Sale on roasted seeds, 55 degrees.
The following morning, an observation was passed.
Fritanga Monimbo Kendall,  , 7173 SW 117th Ave., Kendall: Routine observation, 21 full violations, five High Priority transgressions.
Issues started at both above and below.
Seven flies “flying around kitchen prep places.”
Four roof tiles in the kitchen area have water stains.
” Food stored under dripping water series … at a reach-in warmer located in the kitchen, by the major gate”.
Standing water was observed below the three-compartment fall in the kitchen area and” standing water all over the house slowly draining into the floor drain.”
Insects climbed up a bathroom walls, a walls near the stove, and on a blender on a house training table.
The inspector observed two insects moseying up a wall close to the three-compartment drop during the call examination the following time. However, the inspector even observed evidence of the previous day’s pest control attend, including two wasp body found under the three-compartment fall and five dead roaches on the brush fall.
That’s still a re-inspection-killing violation. Fritanga did n’t get back open until passing the re-re-inspection.

Lemon Peppers,  , 2701 NW 54th St.,  , Miami: Routine inspection, 18 total violations, three High Priority violations.
” Objectionable odors in the walk-in cooler”.
Five roaches were” crawling on a bag of corn meal,” according to two others, and two more were doing it on a bag of flour over in dry storage.
The “warewashing area’s ceiling vent and tiles were heavily soiled with dust” were the claim. The ceiling vent above the cookline reach-in freezer was” soiled with a black substance”.
On the cookline prep cooler, there was a stained cutting board.
You could n’t dry your hands at the handwash sink.
The following day, Lemon was back pushing fish and shrimp after receiving” Follow Up Inspection Required.”
Mi Fondita Cafeteria Restaurant,  , 6059 Johnson St.,  , Hollywood: Complaint inspection, 10 total violations, two High Priority violations.
The manager was unable to kill the two roaches because they went into the wall behind the sink seal when they were discovered on the back of the kitchen’s handwashing sink.
Two dead roaches, one on the floor “at the far end of the bar in the dining room”.
Areas of standing water on the kitchen floor are not properly dried after mopping.
The front of the cookline had “heavy dust buildup” at times in the kitchen ceiling.
The next day’s re-inspection went much better.
Osman Restaurant,  , 514 NE 167th St.,  , North Miami Beach: Routine inspection, 14 total violations, one High Priority violation.
This week’s Amityville Award Winner for its flies is another entry in , North Miami Beach ‘s , Wretched Restaurant Row,  , 167th Street/163rd Street , from the Golden Glades spaghetti bowl to , Biscayne Boulevard.
The zapper in the dry storage room dropped over 15 dead flies, which remained in the zapper’s holder. Over 35 flies emptied the dry storage air before the zapper’s fate was avoided, 10 of which were on the wall by the kitchen handwash sink, over eight wholanded on dirty dishes, three in the dining room, and one who cut into the reach-in cooler.
” A strange odor emanated from the dry storage area.”
There was n’t any soap in the kitchen handwash sink.
” The interior of the oven/microwave has an accumulation of black substance/grease/food debris”.
Osman completed the next day’s re-inspection.
